Reuters are reporting today that Microsoft could be interested in buying mega-publisher Electronic Arts.

Shares of both EA and Microsoft surged 4 percent today behind the speculation.

“There’s talk that Microsoft might be interested in acquiring Electronic Arts. It’s unsubstantiated chatter, but it’s out there,” said Frederic Ruffy, options strategist at WhatsTrading.com in New York.

For now classify this story as a mega-rumor, but if it does build steam, we’ll keep you in the loop.
