Shane Kim, the current corporate vice president of Strategy and Business Development for the Interactive Entertainment Business of Microsoft and former Corporate vice president of Microsoft Game Studios is stepping down this year.

No, not because his title with the company is unnaturally long and tiring. Rather, in a statement released by his spokesperson, the move was “completely voluntary, with Kim saying a desire to spend more time with his friends and family lay behind the decision.”

Kim, who oversaw the release of major Microsoft franchises including Fable, Halo, Age of Empires, Gears of War, and Forza when running Microsoft Game Studios, will leave behind quite a legacy. One that spanned 19 long years, and one that Phil Spencer, the man assuming Kim’s position, is ready to embark upon.
