This just in: revolutionary filmmaker Peter Jackson, who brought us the likes of “The Lord of the Rings” and “King Kong,” will be attending San Diego Comic-Con for the first time next month to promote his upcoming film “District 9,” due in theaters August 14.
The panel for the film will be held on July 24 in Hall H “" home to panels promoting the biggest and baddest of the Comic-Con events. Along with Jackson, who produced “District 9,” will be the film’s director Neill Blomkamp and star Sharlto Copley.
“After all these years, I’m thrilled that I finally have the opportunity to visit San Diego for Comic-Con. I am especially excited that I am attending to support District 9,” said Jackson in a press release. “I look forward to attending my first ever Comic-Con and I know that those who visit us on July 24 in Hall H will be in for quite a ride.”
“District 9” takes place in a world 30 years after alien contact. Humans relocated the aliens “" refugees after the destruction of their home world “" to South Africa’s District 9. Patience over the alien situation runs out as a private company called Multi-National United tries to make the aliens’ weaponry work. MNU field operative, Wikus van der Merwe (Copley) contracts a strange virus that begins changing his DNA to that of the aliens, making him able to control the alien weaponry “" and thus the most sought after man in the world.
