By now you’re probably well aware that in the next-generation console war Nintendo is dominating and Sony is faltering, but what about the middle ground, the average man, Mr. Xbox 360. How’s he doing?

According to Microsoft man Major Nelson, just dandy.

The Xbox Live manager tweeted today that the company recently eclipsed 30 million consoles sold and has amassed over 20 million Xbox Live subscribers. Quite a feat indeed for a company marred by criticism concerning the dreaded red rings of death issue.

Congrats, Microsoft, on a system well-sold. I’m damn sure we’ll hear these statistics again, and again, and probably again next week at E3 during the company’s press conference.
