Think Canada is home to merely bacon, hockey and beer?‚  Think again because the Vancouver based video game studio BigPark hails from the land of “eh” and has now been acquired by mega-giant Microsoft.

Why would the pals at Microsoft want a company founded in 2007? Maybe because individuals with BigPark have a combined 80 years of experience in the field working on such titles as FIFA Soccer, NBA Street, and Need for Speed? Yeah, that probably has something to do with it.

The talent at BigPark will now report to Microsoft Game Studios and actually for the past year have been crafting an uber secret title most likely to be unveiled at E3 in June.

Phil Spencer, general manager, Microsoft Game Studios solidifies this claim by saying:

“We believe BigPark has tremendous potential to create new properties and innovative gaming experiences for our platforms, one of which we’re looking forward to showcasing at the E3 Expo in June.”

There we have it, another studio gobbled up by the hungry, hungry, hippo mouth of Microsoft.‚  However, if you’re in the hunt for a job in games, BigPark is on a hiring spree and you’d do well to check them out if you’re interested.
