Rockstar Games, still high off their Chinatown Wars and Lost and Damned DLC releases continue to toke the good stuff with news of redesigned Max Payne 3.

Rockstar announced today that Max Payne 3 is currently in development by Rockstar Vancouver with an expected commercial release for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC this winter.

This latest iteration promises the same vengeful detective hell-bent on violence and action and will hopefully be more of a success than the recent film.

“We’re starting a new chapter of Max’s life with this game,” said Sam Houser, Founder of Rockstar Games. “This is Max as we’ve never seen him before, a few years older, more world-weary and cynical than ever. We experience the downward spiral of his life after the events of Max Payne 2 and witness his last chance for salvation.”

Details regarding the storyline of Payne 3 were vague, but R* has announced elements will include escalating danger, double crossing far from home in a new city and a desperate search for truth, oh and tons of violence.
