“The Stone” will never sound the same again.

LeRoi Moore, the sax player in the Dave Matthews Band, died Tuesday, the Associated Press confirmed. He was 46.

Publicist Ambrosia Healy told the AP that Moore died Tuesday at Hollywood Presbyterian Medical Center in Los Angeles.

Moore was critically injured in an ATV accident on his farm near Charlottesville, Va. June 30, suffering a punctured lung and broken ribs. According to TMZ, he went back into the hospital last month with complications

TMZ said Dave Matthews Band will perform a scheduled concert at the Staples Center in Los Angeles tonight. 

TMZ published the following remarks from a band publicist:
“LeRoi Moore, saxophonist and founding member of Dave Matthews Band, died unexpectedly Tuesday afternoon, August 19, 2008, at Hollywood Presbyterian Medical Center in Los Angeles from sudden complications stemming from his June ATV accident on his farm near Charlottesville, Virginia. Moore had recently returned to his Los Angeles home to begin an intensive physical rehabilitation program.”
