Welcome to History. History is full of stories of conquest and misery. That does not take away from the modern conveniences, architecture, languages, and other important influences of the Romans.

Hi Luna - nice posting and thanks for the information. Stanford has a great database for reviewing, studying and seeing 3D models of fragments. See here: http://graphics.stanford.edu/projects/forma-urbis/database.html.

Keep up the good posts!

EJ Quinn - what a twisted fool you are. Rome in its ancient heyday had a population of over ONE MILLION - by ancient standards, that was a huge metropolis. People flooded into the city from all corners of its Empire, and undoubtedly had undesirable people living there. Next time you go shopping in a mall, think back to Trajan's Markets in Rome - the world's first shopping centre. Motorways mean anything to you? Thank the Romans. I could go on and on but I doubt you'll be able to quantify just how influential the Romans were - and how much is still evident in world architecture, language, calendars, art & literature.

SO WHAT !! Rome was nothing more than a den of thieves, murderers and perverted lunatics. It would've been fine if they had just left the other countries and people alone, But NO, Rape. Murder, Torture, Steal and Humiliate the rest of humannity, including Christ, too bad their enemies didn't possess the A-Bomb, and we wouldn't have to suck up to the "roman"
glories.
