Logan tightens security

Dec. 26, 2009

The Massachusetts Port Authority issued a very brief statement today saying it was tightening security measures in the wake of the near-tragedy aboard Northwest Airlines Flight 253, in which a Nigerian national with known terrorism ties allegedly tried to blow up the plane with an explosive device.

“The Massachusetts Port Authority is in close contact with our federal and state security partners and have taken additional measures at Boston Logan International Airport, but we will not comment on specific security procedures or changes,” the agency said.

The Port Authority, commonly called Masport, operates Boston Logan International Airport, the waterway Port of Boston, the Tobin Memorial Bridge, Hanscom Field and Worcester Regional Airport.
