Governor Deval Patrick’s surgery successful

Sept. 1

Governor Deval Patrick has successful hip replacement surgery Tuesday, his press office said.

Dr. Harry Rubash, chief of orthopedic surgery at Massachusetts General Hospital, performed Patrick’s surgery and she he was “alert and resting comfortably.”

“The procedure lasted approximately 2 1/2 hours without any complications,” Rubash said. “Gov. Patrick is expected to remain in the hospital for four to five days, followed by a few weeks of outpatient rehabilitation.”

Lt. Governor Timothy P. Murray will assume the governor’s responsibilities while Patrick is in the hospital.

Just happy for you that things went as scheduled. One day at a time and one step at a time. I am a Berkshire neighbor that shook hands with you at Guido’s in the Spring. God bless you. LJM
