As cars have become more advanced in the last few years, car distractions have increased too. Since there are so many more gadgets on the inside of your car, there are more things that can take your eyes off the road. But developers are fast at work to invent technologies that intend to minimize those distractions, while increasing the number of gadgets in your car. Expect to see these awesome technologies in cars you can purchase from dealerships like www.jbakia.com.
At this year’s Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, a lot of the focus on the automobile technology has been on safety. High tech cars have tons of features like self-parking, lane sensors, and other things. Center consoles have gone from having a tape deck and radio to full on LCD entertainment systems. The software firm QNX has been debuting lots of conceptual technologies at CES this year, and that technology is going to make your car safer.
QNX’s goal is to make the things that people do everyday in the car easier and safer. Talking on the phone and texting while in the car are both illegal in many states because they are dangerous, but QNX is trying to make those activities not dangerous. One example of the technology they’re developing is an easy Bluetooth syncing technology, which allows the pairing of Bluetooth devices with a simple tap on the dash.
Another technology that QNX is developing is putting GPS systems on the dashboard, so looking at navigation means you won’t have to take your eyes off the road for too long. Basically, the goal that automakers have right now is to make everything that’s in your car safer, more reliable, and easier to use.
Many users of voice activated technology in cars have complained that the menus are often hard to navigate, because you must memorize certain commands in order to navigate through the menus. One of the technologies that was displayed at CES aims to make those voice activated technologies simpler to use, and in natural human language. When you ask Siri a question on an iPhone, you speak like you would be speaking to any other person. Putting that technology into cars will make them safer, because you won’t have to think so much about what commands you’re using when asking your car for directions. In fact, Hyundai is even working to introduce the Siri technology into its own cars.
Subaru has also been a big player in this year’s CES. Subaru introduced a system called “StarLink” which the company says will be its infotainment focus. StarLink will allow access to different Internet radio stations, different social networks, and even smart-braking technologies. Subaru also introduced something called “EyeSight” which uses cameras to identify the vehicles and conditions around your vehicle, and can even prevent accidents by stopping your vehicle. It can also identify pedestrians, so should you ever not see someone in a crosswalk, EyeSight could stop your vehicle for you.
All of this technology is very new and exciting. It’s sure to change how the automobile safety world operates.
