Teens arrested after GTA-style rampage

June 28, 2008

They claimed to be imitating a video game, but the six teens may go to real jail after mugging a man outside a supermarket and attacking motorists with a baseball bat, a crowbar and broomstick.

According to the Los Angeles Times-Washington Post News Service, Dylan Laird, 17, of Southborough, Mass., Stephen Attard, 18, Samuel Philip, 16, Brandon Cruz, 15, and Gurnoor Singh, 14 and Jasprett Singh, 17 all of New Hyde Park, N.Y., will be charged as adults after police identified three victims of their alleged crime spree — a man with teeth knocked out from a robbery, a would-be carjacking victim and a resident whose van was attacked with a baseball bat.

At one point, the teens even began to enlist friends they saw on the street, forming what police said was “an angry mob of youths.”

The teens said they were acting out scenes from the Grand Theft Auto video game series.
