Addition by subtraction: Shockey traded to Saints

July 21, 2008

We’ve been hearing about this deal for quite some time now, and it’s finally happened. Apparently, it’s for the same amount that the Saints had offered months ago. According to Jay Glazer of Fox Sports, the Giants have traded their bratty tight end to the New Orleans Saints for a second-round pick and a fifth-round pick.

The deal is still pending league approval and Shockey’s physical.

It’s been rumored that Shockey has been unwanted by the team ever since their Super Bowl run when the team seemingly got much better without him. His receiving and blocking talents apparently are outweighed by his boorish behavior and me-first attitude.

Look for him to be very productive in Sean Payton’s offense. Drew Brees must be the happiest guy in Louisiana.

  1. As a far-away (Europe) Saints fan, I am always looking for new sites with New Orleans information.
