We’ve played the bejeezes out of it, loved it, and highly recommend it. Read our 9.0 review here. [...]

Rockband is a gateway drug.

In the best possible way.

My children have had school-related instrumental training, but Rock Band has given them the freedom to "play" different instruments and pick and choose what feels right. Please don't call Child Protection Services, but even my three year old red-headed little girl can be heard at times singing, "Fa-fa Fa-fa-fa, Psycho Killer!" That is one of the first songs I heard on WOUR in Utica, and "Album Oriented Rock" station. That meant they played more than the "45" hot single ... you got to hear weird stuff like, "Don't Eat the Yellow Snow" or "Godzilla" or, heaven forbid, "Psycho Killer" along with tracks no other advertiser-fearing station would every play.

In the past month, my 17 and 15 year old kids had a sudden interest in picking up my acoustic guitar and then proceeded to blow me a way. They learned TAB, picked up things by ear, and about once a day (when they were on turf ... I am divorced) played a song that make me shout out, "AC/DC" when they played Thunderstruck on the acoustic guitar.

If the Beatles can make their way into the consciousness of the modern world, along with their history ... and more importantly the history of the time, then the world is a better place.

If that doesn't happen, and kids happen to explore music -- even if only in an air-guitar way -- then the world is still a better place.

Long Live Rock, Be it Dead or Alive
