LOS ANGELES — The news that the UFC franchise was leaving THQ’s grasp comes the unfortunate report that the company has closed its entire San Diego branch. The studio, responsible for the UFC and WWE titles, is one of the many steps THQ has undertaken to restructure following record losses in the past year. The massive failure of the uDraw tablet has lead the already ailing game company to refocus its strategy and attempt to stay afloat. This is the second THQ owed studio closing following the demise of Homefront developer Kaos studios last year.
The studio released the following statement today on the eve of the E3 show doors opening:
“THQ confirms that today’s announcement regarding the UFC license transition will affect the company’s San Diego studio. THQ is working closely with those relevant staff to either find possible employment within the company, or potentially with EA.”
