Nintendo is releasing the Nintendo 3DS, a 3D-enabled version of its hugely popular DS portable gaming platform in the next year, and Sony doesn’t exactly think it’s the best idea.

Sony’s Director of Hardware and Marketing John Koller said the market for 3D tech isn’t where Nintendo believes it to be.

“I think it remains to be seen where Nintendo goes with 3D on a portable, having been in the portable space for quite awhile, I think it’s an interesting move but one I’d like to see where they go from a demographic standpoint. 8 and 9 year-olds playing 3D is a little bit of a stretch given where some of our research is right now.”

Personally, I believe it’s way too soon to speculate with any sincerity, as Nintendo has only vaguely revealed its newest system. It’ll be playable at E3. That’s when I’ll frame my opinions.
