Nintendo, Treasure Executives trash-talk N64

Nov. 4, 2009

This is the kind of news no one ever wants to hear. A tale of love lost.

Swirling and hurtful jabs at a beloved gaming system stemming from the mouth of Nintendo President Satoru Iwata and Treasure director Atsutomo Nakagawa is today’s news, we sadly must report.

Here’s what the duo had to say about the N64.

Nakagawa: …Yes. That’s why we thought we could work on the Nintendo 64 too. But, the Nintendo 64 … sure was something (bitter laughter).

Iwata: (laughs) It was a machine that was hard to create things for and didn’t work at all.

Nakagawa: Y-Yes. It didn’t work at all…

I can’t even begin to guesstimate the number of hours spent reveling in gaming bliss on my Nintendo 64. From Goldeneye to The Ocarina of Time, my love for gaming exploded through the use of this beloved system.

Ouch Nintendo, you cut me deep, you cut me real deep.
