Playstation 3 Gift Guide

Demon’s Souls There’s nothing like Demon’s Souls on the market, which means everyone that calls themselves a gamer should experience this title. It’s brutal, it’s relentless, but most of all, it’s satisfying. There is nothing like taking out a massive enemy or anyone who has been a thorn in your side for 5-10 hours; it’s a feeling and sense of accomplishment that reminds you of why you started to play video games in the first place, and beats the hell out of some Trophy or Achievement any day. It’s a difficult game, especially for those that do not have the benefit of very old-school gameplay in their lives, but the satisfaction derived from beating even a minor boss makes every death and lost soul worth it. Demon’s Souls is one of the best games on the Playstation 3, and as an exclusive, one of the key reasons to own the system. Do not miss this title.

God of War Collection- Remastered versions of God of War and God of War II on one Blu-Ray disc with full trophy support and access to the God of War III E3 2009 demo? Hell yeah! Stay tuned for our review!

inFAMOUS inFAMOUS is far from perfect, but that doesn’t stop it from, at times, being a masterpiece sandbox game that will have you coming back for more. The good far outweighs the bad, but it’s the perfect candidate for a much improved sequel. What inFAMOUS does well is give you a fun game that will last longer than many titles, even if you just play through once; you’ll want to play it more than once though, given the amount of things you can do as you save or enslave Empire City.

Killzone 2Near the end of Killzone 2’s single-player campaign, one prominent character somberly intones, "The madness begins." If that was just the beginning, we shudder to contemplate the levels of insanity sure to be attained by the inevitable Killzone 3. Fortunately, we don’t have to yet. Why think about the Next Big Thing when the current one still has so much to offer? Killzone 2’s collection of minor shortcomings prevents it from attaining the status of a perfect package, but its well-executed single-player campaign and deep multiplayer offerings qualify it to stand undiminished alongside the recent giants of the genre.

LittleBigPlanet Game of the Year EditionOne year later, now with far more user created content, loads of DLC and even more to do, LittleBigPlanet is still worth your attention. Pick up the Game of the Year Edition if you’ve never played before, as you’ll get lots of the things you would normally have to pay for online for free–there’s a $90 value in this $60 package for one of 2008’s better titles.

Ninja Gaiden 2 SigmaThose who did not play the original because they do not own both consoles will most likely not notice or care about the omissions, in this title, because Sigma 2 is a smoother gameplay experience, just like Sigma was. Fans of the original are sure to be split down the middle–those who played it on all of the difficulties until their fingers cramped probably won’t mind giving this new version a go, but whether they enjoy it or not has a lot to do with their level of blood lust (or their love for polygonal breasts that jiggle on command). If you can deal without the blood, then you’ll be happy you picked up this more recent edition.

Ratchet & Clank Future: A Crack in TimeWhile there are still some things to iron out in the form of space, and Clank could have stood to get a little more spotlight, Ratchet & Clank Future: A Crack in Time holds up as the definitive Ratchet & Clank experience, one that should delight fans of the series while also converting holdouts and making them believers. It’s a quality title that should not be overlooked in this busy holiday season, and despite its cartoon appearance, it’s a game that people of all ages can enjoy.

Uncharted 2 It’s up there with the very best games released this year. It’s a true Game of the Year candidate, just one more reason to own a Playstation 3, and a wonderfully written and acted experience as well. The fact that multiplayer is here–and works so well–is just a huge bonus, and kudos to Naughty Dog for not just matching the first game’s story and gameplay, but exceeding it. We’ll be honest: Marc has already finished it twice, and had to convince himself not to put it in a third time to beat Crushing difficulty.
