Wolfenstein 3D coming to XBLA + PSN

May 29

Activision and id Software came together today and announced that Wolfenstein 3D, arguably the father of the first-person shooter, will bust its way to Xbox Live and the PlayStation Network next week.

The re-release will be everything you remember from yesteryear, namely the intensity of escaping Castle Wolfenstein and filling Nazis full of lead throughout the game’s 60 levels, and will be upwards compatible (of sorts) with big brother next-gen Wolfenstein to come August 4.

After you’ve viciously destroyed countless numbers of Hitler’s soldiers, you’ll be awarded gold in which to fashion customizable weapons in the HD version upon its release at the end of the summer.

Wolfenstein 3D arrives on XBLA and PSN next Wednesday and Thursday respectively and Activision made no mention of pricing. Sorry.
