In a tumbling economy filled with downsizing or the closing altogether of companies, one man (with a huge team behind him) opened a new video game company today and has mammoth hopes for the future.

Jerry Bruckheimer Games, Incorporated, in partnership with MTV Games was announced today alongside the team of talented minds leading the effort.

Everybody knows Bruckheimer-the man who brought about “C.S.I.” on network television and such feature films as “Black Hawk Down,” the “Pirates of the Caribbean” series, and the upcoming “Prince of Persia” film, just to name, a very, very few.

Joining him are Jim Veevaert and Jay Cohen, who will assume President of Production and President of development respectively for Bruckheimer Games.

Why those two men?‚  Bruckheimer says it best:

“Jim Veevaert and Jay Cohen are two of the most knowledgeable, brightest, and creative talents in this industry. ‚ Throughout their careers, Jim and Jay have both demonstrated their unstoppable desire to advance the medium, which is exactly what we do with feature films and television. We are going to create content that challenges the way things are done and the experiences gamers have today.”

Veevart has worked with Microsoft Games for over eight years and was most recently executive producer on a little game called Halo 3 in addition to overseeing relations with Bungie Studios, as well as Epic Games and Gears of War for the big M.

Cohen on the other hand worked as Senior Vice President of publishing at Ubisoft and in his time carried out the launches of such mega-hits as Splinter Cell, Rainbow Six, Ghost Recon, Prince of Persia, Rayman and Assassin’s Creed.

I believe it is very, very safe to say, Bruckheimer Games will be bringing some serious titles to the table and may blend the movie and video game genre together in a way not seen as of yet.
