Excited about learning more gory details regarding Capcom’s Dead Rising sequel at E3 early next month?‚  That’s too bad because this darn Swine Flu issue has the Capcom Osaka team hunkered down in influenza-stricken Japan.

The Japanese government has issued an advisable restriction to all citizens on international travel, and a trip to Los Angeles to promote a video game apparently is not in the company’s best interest.

And according to gaming blog site Kotaku, the situation is being handled as such:

“Our Capcom guys are not coming to E3 because of the Japanese government restrictions,” said Capcom’s Chris Kramer, Senior Director, Communications and Community. “The company is taking the advisory very seriously.”

You might be thinking, “Hey, isn’t Blue Castle, the Canada based studio working on Dead Rising 2?”

Yupp, you’re right, but not completely.‚  See, Keiji Inafune, executive producer of Dead Rising 2 and his minions are overseeing production, albeit from thousands of miles away in Japan, and will not leave the island nation.

But certainly someone from Blue Castle has enough knowledge to demonstrate the title to journalists at the show, right?‚  Nope.‚  According to Kramer, “Dead Rising 2 is the only game we won’t be able to showcase at E3, because it’s at an early stage of development and the team is not comfortable having anyone else demo the code.”

This is hardly a deal-breaker for the power of E3, because really, DR2 is not a ground breaking IP.‚  We’ve played it before, and the next iteration will be different, but we’ve got time to see it before its to be determined release date.

Blast has reached out to Capcom for comment and will update when we hear back.
