The top 15 most violent video games ever created.

March 16

Violent video games are as prevalent as ever these days.  Just this week Resident Evil 5, MadWorld, and GTA: Chinatown Wars, all M-rated titles were released for public, adult consumption.  Graphical capabilities in video games have exploded exponentially as of late, and while seeing every blade of grass on the soccer pitch in fine detail is nice, heads exploding, blood gushing and the severance of limbs is also very alluring.

The crew over at PCworld, with help from the editorial staff at GamePro, has compiled a list of the 15 most violent video games ever, complete with great detail regarding each choice.  Obviously you may have a game in mind that did not make the list, but I feel the major players were touched on and well defended by the appointees.

And now for the list of the most gore-ridden, wholly violent video games.

15. Night Trap

14. Smash TV

13. Doom (series)

12. Grand Theft Auto (series)

11. Manhunt

10. Condemned 2: Bloodshot

9. God of War (series)

8. Soldier of Fortune

7. Mortal Kombat (series)

6. Gears of War (series)

5. Fallout (series)

4. MadWorld

3. Silent Hill (series)

2. Resident Evil (series)

1. Dead Space

As much as I want to elect a nostalgia filled title for my choice, I cannot disagree with Dead Space as the conqueror of all.  I have never experienced a more horrifying video game in my life.  I very well might have peed myself a good three times, which does not bode well for the sequel.

Head on over to PCworld.com for the full reasoning behind each selection.

What? No Phantasmagoria? That game was hella violent! Scenes of people being force fed until they exploded, people being cut in half, the works! Heck it got banned in more countries than GTA!
