Sony announces new Ratchet and Clank title at GDC

March 27

Insomniac Games, creators of the Ratchet and Clank, Resistance, and Spyro franchises truly know how to create awe inspiring, quality titles.  Just how popular are Insomniac’s creations?  Hmm, I can think of 32 million reasons.

Insomniac recently revealed total unit sales of the combined three properties to be in excess of 32 million, quite a feat for a PlayStation only developer.  But why stop there?

Sony announced today at GDC “Ratchet and Clank: A Crack in Time,” the latest in the famed series due out sometime this fall exclusively on the PlayStation 3.

A Crack in Time will follow up the download only title Quest for Booty making it clear this is the project Insomniac had been previously referring to as “our next project” for quite some time now.

The new game will feature the traditional action platformer gameplay of the series, along with new space combat, new weapons and revelations about both main characters’ origins.

Love the traditional platformer gameplay found in previous iterations? Check, it’s here again, complemented by new space combat, new weapons, and curious revelations regarding the origin of both main characters.
