Top 10 Twilight series moments

Aug. 3, 2008   82 Comments

These are some of the greatest moments of Stephenie Meyer’s series. If you have not yet read “Breaking Dawn”, the fourth novel in the series, and do not want to read any spoilers, please do not continue reading this. If not, enjoy!

10 – The end of “Breaking Dawn”

“‘We have plenty of time to work on it,’ I reminded him.

‘Forever and forever and forever,’ he murmured.

‘That sounds exactly right to me.’

And then we continued blissfully into this small but perfect piece of our forever.”

9 - Bella and Edward’s first ever kiss from “Twilight”

“I couldn’t breathe.

He hesitated – not in the normal way, the human way.

Not the way a man might hesitate before he kissed a woman, to gauge her reaction, to see how he would be received. Perhaps he would hesitate to prolong the moment, that ideal moment of anticipation, sometimes better than the kiss itself.

Edward hesitated to test himself, to see if this was safe, to make sure he was still in control of his need.

And then his cold, marble lips pressed very softly against mine.”

8 – Jacob imprints from “Breaking Dawn”

“My jerking came to a stop; heat flooded through me, stronger than before, but it was a new kind of heat – not a burning.

It was a glowing.

Everything inside me came undone as I stared at the tiny porcelain face of the half-vampire, half-human baby. [...] The gravity of the earth no longer tied me to the place where I stood.

It was the baby girl in the blond vampire’s arms that held me here now.”

7 – The cliff jump in “New Moon”

“I smiled and raised my arms straight out, as if I were going to dive, lifting my face into the rain. But it was too ingrained from years of swimming at the public pool – feet first, first time. I leaned forward, crouching to get more spring…

And I flung myself from the cliff.”

6 – Bella first sees Edward in “Twilight”

“It was there, sitting in the lunchroom, trying to make conversation with seven curious strangers, that I first saw them.

They were sitting in the corner of the cafeteria, as far away from where I sat as possible in the long room. There were five of them. [...] The last was lanky, less bulky, with untidy, bronze-colored hair. He was more boyish than the others, who looked like they could be in college, or even teachers here rather than students.

[...]‘That’s Edward. He’s gorgeous, of course, but don’t waste your time. He doesn’t date. Apparently none of the girls here are good-looking enough for him.’ She sniffed, a clear case of sour grapes. I wondered when he’d turned her down.”

5 - The wedding from “Breaking Dawn”

“I didn’t realize I was crying until it was time to say the binding words.

‘I do,’ I managed to choke out in a nearly unintelligible whisper, blinking my eyes clear so I could see his face.

When it was his turn to speak, the words rang clear and victorious.

‘I do,’ he vowed.”

4 - Bella’s first kiss with Edward as a vampire in “Breaking Dawn”

“It was like he’d never kissed me – like this was our first kiss. And in truth, he’d never kissed me this way before.

It almost made me feel guilty. Surely I was in breach of the contract. I couldn’t be allowed to have this, too.”

3 - Bella punches Jacob in “Eclipse”

“Finally, he let go of my face and leaned away.

‘Are you done now?’ I asked in an expressionless voice.

‘Yes,’ he sighed. He started to smile, closing his eyes.

I pulled my arm back and then let it snap forward, punching him in the mouth with as much power as I could force out of my body.

There was a crunching sound.

‘Ow! OW!’ I screamed, frantically hopping up and down in agony while I clutched my hand to my chest. It was broken, I could feel it.

Jacob stared at me in shock. ‘Are you alright?’

‘No, dammit! You broke my hand!‘”

2 – The meadow scene from “Twilight”

“‘Isabella.’ He pronounced my full name carefully, then playfully ruffled my hair with his free hand. A shock ran through my body at his casual touch. ‘Bella, I couldn’t live with myself if I ever hurt you. You don’t know how it’s tortured me.’ [...] He lifted his glorious, agonized eyes to mine. ‘You are the most important thing to me now. The most important thing to me ever.’”

1 – The tent scene from “Eclipse”

“‘Please!’ Edward hissed. ‘Do you mind!’

‘What?’ Jacob whispered back, his tone surprised.

‘Do you think you could attempt to control your thoughts?’ Edward’s low whisper was furious.

‘No one said you had to listen,’ Jacob muttered, defiant, yet still embarrassed. ‘Get out of my head.’

‘I wish I could. You have no idea how loud your little fantasies are. It’s like you’re shouting them at me.’

‘I’ll try to keep it down,’ Jacob whispered sarcastically.”

    wow, thats amazing.
I must say that if Edward were real, i would marry him :)
those book are absolutly amazing, and i cannot wait for the movie.

  2. andrea says:

i love the series (the four books), and those were really good moments… what i don’t understand is why people say that they hated breaking dawn, but then there are like 3 or 4 breaking dawn moments in the top ten twilight moments… i really loved breaking dawn though….

  3. TwilightFan says:

I love it thanks ! AND I TOO LOVED BREAKING DAWN IT WAS A BEAUTIFUL ENDING TO A BEAUTIFUL LOVE STORY !!!!!

    WE LOVE YOU STEPHENIE !!!!

  4. Orlaah says:

Well done blast, on the new site
great to see more and more Twilight mania being spread around the world!!
    long may it continue!
    hehe
    this was a good article..
But you could have included a few more key points in the series..
    but nevertheless.. Great stuff
    Look forward to reading more!!
    =)

  5. anna cullen says:

i wish they included this scene in new moon where edward and bella came back from italy…

“Before you, Bella, my life was like a moonless night. Very dark, but there were stras-points of light and reason…. And then you shot across my sky like a meteor. Suddenly everything was on fire; ther was brilliancy, there was beauty. When you were gone, when the meteor had fallen over the hirizon, everything went black. Nothing had changed, but my eyes were blinded by the light. i couldn’t see the stars anymore. And there was no more reason for anything. [...] My heart hsn’t beat in almost ninety years, but this was different. it was like my heart was gone-like i was hollow. Like i’d left everything that was inside me here with you.”

    Edward…………………… *sigh*

  6. Natasha says:

This one has to be included in my list. Without a DOUBT in Chapter 20, when Edward proposes.
“I promise to love you forever-every single day of forever. Will you marry me?”

  7. blearyeyedmesgirl says:

I must agree with these, though of course I could come up with 10, 20, 30 more…

The #1, tent scene, is one of my all time favorites as well. It’s one of the reasons Eclipse is my favorite story out of the 3, now 4.

And Breaking Dawn…well…I loved it. Great story telling. Nothing should ever just be about the end result, but about the journey it takes to get to the end. And I loved the journey that Stephenie Meyer took us on.

And I too am looking forward to the movie version of the first book. Robert Pattinson is a gifted actor, and I can’t wait to see him bring the character of Edward to life; not to mention seeing how amazing he will be in his two Independent films coming up, How To Be and Little Ashes…definitely an actor to keep your eye on!

  8. gina says:

i agree with these..but the meadow from Twilight would have to be my number one! when edward says ” You are the most important thing to me know…” i still feel the goosebumbs…sigh :)

  9. jess says:

I detest the tent scene. The character of Jacob is a pain.

  10. Carolyn says:

Ditch the jacob/tent moment and the list is ok .

  11. Alex says:

these were definately some of my favorite moments from the whole series<3 & i still dont get why people are hating on Breaking Dawn so much? Just because it didnt happen like you wanted it sdoesnt mean that everything about it is bad… i didnt see anything that happened in the book coming but i still loved it. Be open-minded people!

  12. ale-twilightgirl says:

The meadow scene from Twilight should be the #1!!
and i dont like the tent scene xP

  13. Marissa says:

I think all of those are exactly right!
I absolutely loved the tent scene :) haha . i couldn’t stop cracking up . the meadow scene was also very sweet . it should have been #1 .
i also don’t get why a lot of people don’t like Breaking Dawn . Just because something happened tht you didn’t want to happen doesn’t mean it’s a bad book . . . obviously Stephenie can’t put everything in tht everyone wants . Like ‘Alex’ said , I loved the book even tho it as nothing like I expected =]
    good top 10 tho . !

  14. sophie says:

the best scene most definitly was the meadow scene from twilight. it gave me the chills to read just that little quote. when i read it, i was grinning from ear to ear and hyperventalating! twlight was the best book ever, and i will never forget it as long as i live.

  15. Liz says:

love the list. however, there are so many other parts worth listing….i don’t hink it’s possible to definatively narrow it down to only 10!

  16. Erika says:

    !!!!!!!!
I’m sorry, but honestly, how does that part of the tent scene top the MEADOW scene?
Because isn’t it, in the end, about Bella and Edwards love?
(This of course is my crazed fangirl rampage.)
    Nothing tops the meadow.
    Not to me.
    *sighs*
And what about when she has the realization at the end of New Moon.
    “You love me!” Moment.
    It was amazing.
And what about when they’re parting in Twilight and they have that intense moment as he holds her?

And even better, what about the ‘angry grizzlies’ moment when Edward comes come after having Alice keep Bella ‘safe’ and its major intense-romantic-lovey between them?

Lastly, why isn’t the Emmett Bella Arm Wrestle in there at 10.5 or something.
    That was epic.
Or when Edward hears Bellas mind at the end of breaking dawn?

*faints from lack of breathing and typing too fast*

  17. Vivienne says:

    I agree!
Could this article be edited and put the Meadow Scene at number one?
    It was the dream.
The scene to start the saga.
    The most amazingly perfect.
I’m going to go read it again now.

  18. noliness says:

yeah…these are the scenes that makes me flip…love them…

  19. Raven says:

OMGOMGOMGOMGOMG! All those scenes gave me the thrills!!! I love every moment when Edward’s with Bella. And I actually like Jacob too. It’s just too bad that Bella’s heart only belongs to one person. The tent scene was really intimate, but in an indirect way. It was like this little tete-a-tete bw Edward and Jacob w regards to Bella. You can really see how much BOTH of them love her.

    Sighhhhhhssss……….

I love the ending of Breaking Dawn. I don’t care what those haters say; it’s still a great, worthwhile read. And I LOVELOVELOVELOVELOVE that part from New Moon (my fave out of the 4):

‘Before you, my life was like a moonless night…’ and on and on. See Ashley’s post. Sighhhhhhssss. EDWARD!!! WHY DO YOU NOT EXIST?!?!?!

  20. cullengirl1 says:

Great article. Your number four is my number one because that is what I wanted more than anything, Bella as a vampire, forever connected to Edward. I really couldn’t narrow it to ten, however, I have to add one of my favorites. It’s in New Moon, when Bella is rushing to save Edward and sees him in the distance. “…and the last seven months meant nothing, and his words in the forrest meant nothing, and it did not matter if he did not want me, I would never want anything but him no matter how long I lived.”

  21. Jenny P says:

    gross

this list makes me physically ill

not only does it prove that the twilight series is without any merit, but it certainly puts a dent in your reputation.

I wish things didn’t have to be reported on just because they were popular.

  22. Amber says:

I totally agree that those moments should be up there. All though I think Edward and Bella’s first honeymoon night should be up there. lol. Or maybe when Bella finds out she’s pregnent. But omg!!

And OMG!!! I totally agree with all of you, and LOVE the support for Breaking Dawn!!! I’m so sick of hearing all the negative input when the book was AMAZING!!!!! I absolutely loved it and wouldn’t change a thing about it!!! :D

  23. Jessi says:

Those are actual quotes from the book? It’s not fanfiction?

  24. Kate says:

There should definitely be some more scenes from New Moon. When Bella races through the plaza to stop Edward, and the night after they come home from Italy are some of my favorites.

And also, my favorite moment in Breaking Dawn was when Edward took Bella hunting for the first time..or even when she beat Emmett at arm wrestling. I also loved when Rosalie gave Jacob some food in a doggy dish with “Fido” written on it in Breaking Dawn. And all the blonde jokes Jake was throwing at her. hahaha. Okay, I’m just rambling now. But man, I love that book.

  25. Jenni says:

omg, love these all but I seriously couldn’t narrow it down to ten. I think the meadow scene and the time when Edward takes Bella out to dinner after saving her the second time in Port Angelos, would make #1, for me atleast.

I think Breaking Dawn isn’t as bad as people keep saying, in fact the honeymoon moments were quite sweet. And the wedding, oh my Edward Anthony Masen Cullen! LOL. Anyway, love, love, love the books. Kiss, kiss!
