I’m less enthralled for the death and black metal suggestions, because I suffer from Guitar Hero Puss Syndrome. If the song is something I would be embarrassed to be seen listening to, like Pat Benatar, then I’m awesome at it. If it’s Tool or Metallica, I suck. I’m much better at the songs that go heavy on rhythm vs. shredding.

The issue with the review would be that I haven’t played (most of) the originals, so I’m not sure how they revamped them, or how they added the other instruments (I just have a guitar). I also just got sent the latest DS Guitar Hero game, so I’m working through that now. Sneak preview review: It’s surprisingly good!

Some thoughts of mine would have to be some death/viking/black metal, anything by Goldfinger,various video game/movie soundtrack remixes a la Halo 3 (in GH3) and the James Bond theme in GH4.

and you should keep at it. I started with no GH/RB skills and I now can play every song on expert minus a few. it just takes practice practice practice, you’ll get it.

I really think you should go back and review Smash Hits. Sure it’s the same songs, but the notes for each song have been completely remapped, and not to mention the addition of drums, vocals, and bass.
