And it's available soon. Holiday gift? Details inside.

You’ve probably definitely heard of the Forza Motorsport series, Microsoft’s breadwinning racing franchise, but have you really heard it?

You can, beginning tomorrow, when the game’s OST, or official soundtrack hits the Sumthing Digital Music Store and iTunes.

Imagine this...in music form..

Composed and produced by DJ Drunken Master, or Lance Hayes, his real-world name, this soundtrack features 12 tracks filling up 90 minutes of ambient electronica with “forays into ambient breaks, illbient and acid jazz.”

Maybe you’ve played the game and loved or hated its music. But this is what the Master himself had to say about working on the project.

“This was truly a rare and amazing project to work on. I knew it had to be perfect because this was Forza but we also agreed that it had to be music that could stand on its own. We were looking for the right balance of listen-ability and edge.”

I’m a sucker for official soundtracks, so, feel free to buy me this for Christmas, I’ll pay it forward, if that makes you feel any better!

Bublé stays at Billboard #1, "New Moon" comes in at #2.

In a Billboard shocker moment, famed crooner Michael Bubl took out the New Moon soundtrack for number one on the charts this week. This is Bubls second week on the charts bringing in 203,000 records sold in the past seven days according to Billboard.com. New Moon was released last Tuesday, October 20 but Bubl came in first for total record sales. The soundtrack sold 115,000 copies in its first week. The news is even more surprising when Bubls Crazy Love isnt present on the iTunes top album chart, while New Moon hovers at number six (at the time this article was printed).

Bubl is famous for his smooth vocals, covering classic songs from past eras. Crazy Love features Georgia on my Mind and Havent Met You Yet. Bubls usual demographic follows him for his unique voice that has hints reminiscent of Frank Sinatra or Fred Astaire. His modern day rendition of old-time classics have become wedding anthems around the world.

In contrast, the New Moon soundtrack, released by Warner Brothers records to help excite Twilighters everywhere for the upcoming release of the second movie in the Stephanie Meyers series, is comprised of all original works. Death Cab for Cutie, Thom Yorke, Lykke Li, The Killers, Muse and more all wrote original songs exclusively for the soundtrack. The contributors list is impressive at the very least, but even more so when you consider the songs were written specifically for the movie.

Paramore, who headlined the first Twilight soundtrack, hang in on the Billboard 200 chart at number 16 with Brand New Eyes which was released in late September.

Both Crazy in Love and the New Moon soundtrack are available at all major music retailers. The Twilight Saga: New Moon hits theatres November 20..

Bioware announced today that Inon Zur has composed the score for their upcoming game Dragon Age: Origins.  You may have never heard of the name Inon Zur, but if you have ever played Fallout 3, Crysis, or Prince of Persia you have heard some of his stunning musical compositions. “From the moment you hear the Dragon Age: Origins theme to the lilting ballad, I Am The One, at the end of the game, Inon’s score is hand in glove with the Dragon Age: Origins dark fantasy,” said Simon Pressey, Audio Director for the game.

The entire soundtrack is a collaboration of composer Inon Zur, vocalist Aubrey Ashburn and BioWare Audio Director Simon Pressey. It will be available for purchase or as an online download from music sites when the game is released for the 360 and PC on November 3rd.

As a racing game fanatic, I need a good soundtrack playing when I’m racing down the tracks. So naturally, I’ll need some aggressive music playing (preferably rock but hip hop will do). Need for Speed: Shift has just announced it’s soundtrack and I’m pleased to see that I won’t need to be listening to my iPod when I race (at least not until the music gets old). The soundtrack features hits from some of my favorite bands like Kasabian, Kanye West and the Eagles of Death Metal. With Need for Speed: Shift coming out in less than a week, I’m sure you’re as excited as I am to find out what the tracks are. Check it out after the jump and be sure to comment about the choice of music.

Maybe the game wasn't so hot, but the music sounds nice.

Sumthing Else Music Works and Capcom today announced that the Bionic Commando of 2009’s official soundtrack is now available on iTunes and on the music-distributor’s website.

Priced at $9.99 and filled with 20 original compositions that you’ll recall from the game, the soundtrack is the latest addition to the Sumthing Digital Music Store.

Composer Jamie Christopherson: “I remember playing Bionic Commando back on the NES and like everyone else I was blown away by the quality of the music. Not only were there extremely ‘hummable’ epic melodies, but the use of the MIDI chip to create a very dense and complicated orchestral arrangement was astonishing. If someone would have told me that 20 years later I would be working on a next generation Bionic Commando game, I would never have believed them. I was fortunate enough to take the music (including the famous main theme) and give it a modern treatment, complete with an anthemic 15-piece brass ensemble.”

If you’ve been reading Blast you’ll know that other such soundtracks as Banjo-Kazooie Nuts and Bolts, Resident Evil, Street Fighter IV, Gears of War 2, Halo Wars, Viva Pinata and many, many more are available through the service and if you’re somewhat of a collector (like meee) you’d do well to snatch them up while their hot.

Sony Classical recently released an 8-CD set commemorating the 30th anniversary of Star Wars.

The box set contains music from episodes IV, V and VI with original artwork, as well as the all new Corellian Edition, a bonus CD with artwork, posters and photos and limited edition posters and stickers inside.

The Corellian Edition CD is the only real new treat, which is what makes it appealing to the real passionate Star Wars fans. It contains different themes from all six episodes.

What hurts this collection is that the Corellian Edition can be purchased separately. The 8-CD set is $90, and doesn’t offer a lot in terms of new content.

If you are a Star Wars fan, and don’t own any original music albums from the movies, this is a one-shot chance to own the classics, but if you already own all the soundtracks individually, this collection depends on your level of dedication to owning everything Star Wars.

Features

Episode IV – A New Hope (two CDs)

Episode V – The Empire Strikes Back (two CDs)

Episode VI – Return of the Jedi (two CDs)

An exclusive new 15″ x 15″ fold-out poster celebrating Episodes IV, V and VI

Three collectable 4″ x 4″ stickers, each featuring a four-color reproduction of the CD cover from the Expanded Edition soundtrack of one of these episodes

New notes on the history of the first Star Wars soundtrack

Track lists and credits for the CDs.

As YouTube videos become better and better (shockingly…the videos are getting better, the photos are getting better, but now if only as many people would learn where commas and semicolons go…) and high-definition video cameras come down in price, we are starting to see amateur and small-business video rise in production value.

That’s why software like Sony’s Cinescore Professional Soundtrack Creation is becoming more and more relevant. In the past, you wouldn’t necessarily find this software at Best Buy — and, well, you still don’t — but for a $100 investment this software lets you add a real score to your moving pictures.

Normally, I’d throw down a review of something like this and say “it’s powerful, feature-rich, but give yourself plenty of time to get over the learning curve.” But if you’re doing video editing right now and using Final Cut or Premiere (or Sony’s Vegas Movie Studio, which I’m sure they’d want me to plug…) you can use Cinescore. Explore the software a little bit, learn some of the specific functions like audio sweetening effects and transitions, and you’re pretty much all set. At this point, if you’ve seen one audio/video timeline, you’ve seen them all.

It is indeed powerful and feature-rich, and Cinescore includes a bunch of royalty-free sound effects and loops that you can use at your own will. The software also allows you to export your finished work to ATRAC, AVI, MOV, MP3, OGG, RM, WAV, WMA, WMV, DVD, MPEG-2 and PSP/iPod-friendly MPEG-4.

Cinescore includes interactive tutorials and help files if you do get stuck. Other video editing titles give you some of Cinescore’s functionality, but give this solid option a try.

Features:

Automatically generates music to match any time duration

Video scoring track and real-time preview window

Includes 20 fully customizable Themes in multiple genres

16-bit, 44.1 KHz song quality for exceptional performance

Powerful user-defined settings yield unlimited musical results
