Grandstand tickets will be selling at $1.10. Both prices match the ticket price for the opener against Boston back in 1923.

The Yankees are hoping to sell 720,000,000 bleacher seats during those two days which will cover Teixeira’s contract. And they are looking to sell 146,363,636 grandstand tickets to help pay for CC Sabathia’s contract.

These games against the Cubs represent the pre-season home opener at the new Yankee Stadium.

The Yankees have now signed first baseman Mark Teixeira to a reported eight-year $180 million deal.

He joins CC Sabathia (seven-year, $161 million) and A.J. Burnett (five-year, $82.5 million) as high-priced free agent additions to the Yanks.

What recession?

Earlier in the day it was thought that the Red Sox would be the front runner to land the former Angel. Other interested teams included the Nationals (haha! whatever) and the Orioles.

In 2008, Teixeira hit .308 with 33 bombs and	121 RBI’s.

Chamberlain was arrested early Saturday morning in Lincoln, Nebraska for allegedly driving under the influence, speeding and having an open container of booze in his car.

Brilliant.

But, it’s not just the lack of judgement as far as whether or not he thought he was ok to drive. When is it a smart move to have an open container in the car?

This is just flat-out stupid.

For Yankee fans that love general manager Brian Cashman, there is good news. And for Yankee fans that don’t like their GM of the last 11 years, well…sorry.

The Yankees have announced that they have signed Brian Cashman to a three-year deal to remain as their GM.

From a joint statement by co-chairpersons Hal and Hank Steinbrenner:

“Before we could move forward as an organization this off-season, we needed to come to a resolution on the person who would hold the important position of general manager and allow us to make another run at a 27th World Championship. We are thrilled that Brian has accepted to renew his commitment to this organization for at least three more years.”

Cashman was believed to be on the fence about whether or not he wanted to remain with the organization, but a Yankee source told Newsday that it came down to what was best for his family. His new deal will pay him around $2 million annually.

The Yankees missed the post-season for the first time in Cashman’s tenure this season with an 89-73 record. He will meet with the media Wednesday morning at Yankee Stadium

The Detroit Tigers have sent veteran catcher Ivan Rodriguez to the New York Yankees in exchange for flame-throwing middle relief pitcher Kyle Farnsworth.

If you are curious as to whether or not this is a fair trade, Yankees fans unaffectionately call him “Farnsworthless.”

Yankees management is happy to have Pudge. “He’s hitting over .290 I believe and he’s been hot so we’re looking forward to having him,” Yankees manager Joe Girardi said after New York beat the crap out of the Orioles 13-3 on Wednesday.

Actually, Pudge is hitting .295 with five home runs and and 32 RBI’s in 82 games. He is a welcomed addition to a team that just lost Jorge Posada for the season.

Farnsworth is 1-2 with a 3.65 ERA and is generally thought of as not so hot. He throws gas, but that’s about it.
