Mad Catz Wireless Fender Precision Bass review

I got my first taste of this generation of Mad Catz music game accessories at E3 over the summer. two products stood out. One was a $300 real wood Fender Stratocaster, which is basically an actual guitar with video game components inserted instead of strings and pickups. The other wasn’t quite as flashy, but it was still cool in the looks and concept departments.

The Wireless Fender Precision Bass is one of the only (Beatles Rock Band not included) video game guitars that specifically caters to the oft-ignored bassists out there. The most obvious feature will grab you right away in the split strum bar. This allows you to have a certain degree of realism in doing two-fingered bass strumming.

The elongated neck and fret buttons make for comfortable game playing. The guitar is 84 percent to scale, but it actually feels like you’re holding a bass when you hold this guitar’s shape in your arms and start to pick away at your favorite songs.

The two fingered mode is interesting, but I’m still a “thumb strummer” in Rock Band and Guitar Hero. It takes some getting used to. But the bass is well put together.

It’s a Rock Band 2 product, licensed by Harmonix/MTV Games on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 for $89.99.

Marvel VS. Capcom 2 Tournament Fightstick announced

Mad Catz and Capcom came together today and revealed the “Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 Tournament Edition Fight Stick,” and oh boy does it look purrdy.

Due out “sometime” this fall, for an to-be-determined price point, the Tournament Edition Fight Stick is likely to become and instant collectors item for Comic book fans and gamers alike, as the hunk of plastic is decorated with never-before released artwork from the game.

“Capcom has demonstrated that by working in close collaboration with Mad Catz, we are able to produce fighting controllers which deliver the level of performance and authenticity that our fans demand,” said Christian Svensson, vice president business development & strategic planning at Capcom Entertainment, Inc. “We’re delighted to further our relationship and continue the evolution of this range to encapsulate the Marvel VS Capcom franchise and look forward to the fans reaction upon release.”

Somehow I’ve never felt the pull of these items, beyond their clear aesthetic value at least, but if this item is already a must-have, by all means, enjoy!

Mad Catz announces Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 accessory line

With the release of Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 only weeks away, Mad Catz has announced that they will be releasing a Modern Warfare 2 series of accessories for the PS3, Xbox 360, and PC when the new Call of Duty is released. The products which Mad Catz will release on their line are as follows (along with what systems they will be released for):

- Modern Warfare 2 Combat Controller – Xbox 360 + PS3
- Modern Warfare 2 Throat Communicator – Xbox 360
- Modern Warfare 2 Faceplate and Console Skinz – Xbox 360
- Modern Warfare 2 Wireless Headset with Bluetooth Technology – PS3

The items will range in price from $15 – 100 dollars depending on the item in question and retailer selling the products, but they are a must have for die hard fans of Call of Duty. Mad Catz secures accessory license from Nintendo

Mad Catz, a leading third party videogame accessory provider, has obtained non-exclusive rights to develop and market a range of accessories for the Wii, Nintendo DS, and Nintendo DSi. The agreement allows Mad Catz to selectively use popular Nintendo characters which include Donkey Kong, Zelda, Link, Mario Luigi, Wario and Samus, among others. This means that pretty soon, weâ€™ll be seeing some new accessories to spice up our Nintendo gaming lifestyles. Gamers rejoice!
