After 10 years, MTV is pulling the plug on its popular music video countdown show, “Total Request Live.”

The show will end with a two-hour special on a Saturday afternoon in November, said executive producer Dave Sirulnick on Monday. Sirulnick said the show wasn’t ending forever, but said now was the right time to give the show a “break.”

“We want to close this era of ‘TRL’ in a big celebratory way, and 10 is a great number,” Sirulnick said. “And 10 is the number that ‘TRL’ counted down every single day for 10 years, and we hit this 10th (anniversary) and we thought, ‘You know what? This feels like the right time and let’s celebrate it and let’s reward it. And let’s let it have a little bit of a rest for a minute.’ Let it catch its breath! Been working hard — for 10 years!”

“TRL” started in 1998 and served as a springboard for acts like The Spice Girls, The Backstreet Boys and many more.

According to some reports, MTV will replace “TRL” with “FNMTV” a Los Angeles-taped show hosted by Fall Out Boy bassist Pete Wentz. The show features a mix of music from Slipknot to the Jonas Brothers.

In a statement, Eminem said: “I’m going to miss ‘TRL.’ … Where else will I be able to start feuds, defend my honor vigorously and act like an angry teenager on national TV? Oh wait … The VMAs!”

The Jo-Bro’s craze continues to keep teenyboppers and old-er fans happy this summer. On August 12 the singing siblings will release A Little Bit Longer. It will be their follow up to platinum selling Jonas Brothers CD, which debuted at number five on Billboard’s Top 200 last August.

The Jonas Brothers have spent the last year and a half working on this album and growing as a band worldwide, prompting Oprah Winfrey to compare the mania of the Jonas Brothers to that of the Beatles. It is true that they have become THE ‘boy band’ of today, with pop-rock tunes that attract a variety of audiences.

The first single from A Little Bit Longer will be “Burning Up,” and the video will be James Bond-esque theme mini movie. “Burning Up” is also the name of Jonas Brothers’ upcoming tour, which kicks off July 4 in Toronto with special guest Demi Lovato. Most of the dates for the tour sold out in record time, including two shows at Madison Square Garden in New York.

Jonas Brothers recorded much of the new record while on tour last fall in a specially outfitted Gibson tour bus. John Fields returns as executive producer of their new CD. The band previewed three new tracks from A Little Bit Longer on their recently wrapped When You Look Me In The Eyes tour. Of the songs, “Burning Up” is a funky, rhythmic dance and guitar driven number, while “Little Bit Longer” is a poignant account of Nick Jonas’ life as a diabetic, and “Pushing Me Away” is pure Jonas-emo. The band’s songwriting on the new album shows their musical growth.

Leading up to the release of the new album, the brothers will have a busy summer already. Following their Disney Channel reality series Jonas Brothers, Living the Dream, and their Disney Channel movie Camp Rock, they will begin their first tour of Europe late May through June, then embark on the “Burning Up” tour and release A Little Bit Longer.
