Blast Boston has two free passes to see Adam Green’s “Hatchet II,” at any point you want during the film’s release.

This old-school horror flick is bound to scare you next month. As always, you just need to be a free Blast registered user and leave a comment here.

In your comment, talk about the scariest moment of your life. The best commenter will get BOTH tickets to take a friend/date/mother/etc to the flick.

Synopsis: The follow-up to writer/director Adam Green’s old-school horror smash HATCHET, HATCHET II picks up at the exact moment that the original HATCHET ends, wherein the quiet but hot-tempered Marybeth (Danielle Harris) is in a small boat in the Louisiana swamps, screaming for her life as she tries to free herself from the clutches of the deformed, swamp-dwelling killer Victor Crowley (Kane Hodder). Crowley has murdered Marybeth’s family and other fellow vacationers who had come together on a tourist excursion in the swamplands outside of New Orleans.

Marybeth escapes from Crowley and manages to make it back to civilization, where she once again encounters voodoo shop proprietor Reverend Zombie (Tony Todd), who had helped to arrange Marybeth and company’s earlier, ill-fated tour of the area. To help Marybeth and also serve his own secret agenda, Reverend Zombie recruits a hardened pack of hunters to head back into the swamp to seek revenge on Victor Crowley.

The Anchor Bay Films horror “I Spit on Your Grave’ will not be coming to Boston during its October 8 limited engagement.

The film is about a writer who is brutalized during her cabin retreat and seeks revenge on her attackers, who left her for dead.

The original film, which previewed at a festival in Texas was rated R for pervasive strong sadistic brutal violence, rape and torture, nudity and language. But this one will be unrated.

It does not star anyone we’ve heard of.

Go about your days.

In what Chelsea police called “a scene out of a horror movie,” an illegal dental operation was shut down yesterday.

City inspectors and fire investigators, acting on a tip, had police raid a building on Essex Street, where they found the illegal operation being run out of a dirty basement.

Police found dental instruments, blood from a recent procedure, and other equipment described as “rudimentary” and “unsanitary” in a small partitioned area of the basement.

Police don’t, however, know who was running the illegal dentist’s office.

Police are asking residents to call anonymously to 24 hr Crime Stoppers TIP line at 617-466-4880 or texting the word Chelsea and then their message to tip411 (847411) from their cell phone. Anonymous web tips can also be submitted right from the Police Departments website at www.chelseapolice.com.

In this Blair Witch-Godzilla-I Am Legend mix of film, audiences can expect mayhem, bad camerawork and good entertainment. Although Cloverfield is only 90 minutes long, and no specific characters are the ‘heroes,’ every second is packed with action.

The film, produced by J. J. Abrams, directed by Matt Reeves, and written by Drew Goddard, starts at a gathering were friends try to enjoy a going away party before the building they are in collapses. The cameraman, Hud, is responsible for showing us what happens when a monster arrives to New York City and tears everything apart. More than a tale about a monster, though, this is a tale of survival and of how people react in catastrophes.

Hud is the perfect example of what people do when emergencies happen, instead of calling 911 they use their phones to take pictures. The group of friends the audience gets acquainted with shows human reaction at its finest. How will they escape; save themselves; and is there even a way to do so? The fact that the movie takes place in New York is even more interesting.

As a country that has suffered a major emergency in the Big Apple, this movie makes us rethink whether or not we are prepared for another tragedy. The film is effective in showing that when bad things occur many of us do not know what is happening and must rely on police, firefighters and other safety agencies for information and protection. Cloverfield is different because it exploits this real life fear.

Finally, the movie is successful because there is no resolution. We are left to wonder what happens, whether the monster was defeated and whether New York will rise form the ashes, yet again. This grim European-outlook of life not having a happy ending wraps up the movie as a whole.

You can expect drama and confusion. Overall, however, you can expect a movie that will keep you in the edge of your seat and will stay in your mind after you leave the theater.
