There are always those electronics that are a pain to shop for, especially those that you’re not able to test out prior to purchasing. Headphones and earbuds are prime examples. Sure you can return them if your not satisfied, but how many trips to the store are you going to be willing to make before you become frustrated? Hopefully we can help simplify the process here at Blast with our review on Wicked Audio’s Wicked Empire WE-8803 in-ear earbuds.

From the clear little window on the box, you really can’t help but notice the sleek design and nice styling of the product. With an all black finish, long cord length, and an eye-catching design/symbol on the ends of the buds, its no wonder why the product is so eye appealing.

While looks are important, sound quality is crucial and can make or break a product like this, but the product delivers well for its price range. We were very impressed with the sound quality for these small mid-priced earbuds. Both base and treble sounded great, and the earbuds had no problem reaching louder volumes without distorting all that much.

One thing however, is that the product may not be for everyone especially with people with odd ear sizes and people that are planning to exercise while using these earbuds. We noticed when running or fast walking with the earbuds in, that they slid around a little. This creates slightly annoying pounding noise.

The product retails for $39.99, and you can find them cheaper on Amazon and other online outlets.

Part dream-job, part reality show competition, and part marketing gimmick, headphone and sound equipment manufacturer Sennheiser is putting together a new summer program called The Sennheiser Sound Tour.

Teams, divided by gender for maximum entertainment value, will travel across the US and Canada promoting Sennheiser’s products in a competition to quote, “put headphones on as many people as possible connecting them to the true sound of Sennheiser.”

Yeah, I don’t know what that means either, but it still sounds like fun. The benefits include getting paid to travel across thirty cities for ten weeks this summer while becoming a Youtube and Internet sensation. How you ask? Sennheiser will record these charades and edit them into weekly webcasts and upload them to their Youtube channel (www.youtube.com/sennheisersoundtour) for all to see.

To get in on the action you need to whip out your best reality show personality-I suggest reviewing a few seasons of the Real World as well as a heavy dose of Battlestar Galactica to drum up your nerd quotient-and make a video explaining why you’re the best candidate for the job. Submit your job resume to Sennheiser@thejetstargroup.com, include the location of your video, and finally, cross your fingers. Hurry: submissions are due by May 1.

Submissions extended to May 8

Belkin’s new RockStar ($20) is out to make everyone feel like their own personal DJ.

The device lets you mix your music on your iPod or other music player, and up to six people can listen to it on their own headphones. You could also select to mark other audio jacks as inputs an allow your friends to provide their own tunes. You can then Mix multiple inputs from the other jacks on it, or just listen to one source on all 6 jacks.

One port is set is input only, and then the others are selectable. This gives you the convenience of using it either to mix multiple audio sources together up to 6, or to listen to one audio source on up to six headphones, or output to a speaker. This could make a cheaper receiver, or audio selector for someone, just swapping the jack from output to input to select it.

Questions remains as to whether or not any signal power or quality is lost is all ports are used, as opposed to only one, but you gotta give Belkin style points on this one.

RockStar is coming in March. (Source: iLounge)
