We're pretty sure we know where he got the inspiration for "The Boy with Pink Hair"

Perez Hilton, arguably the most famous blogger in the world, is known for his juicy celebrity gossip, the crude “graffiti” he puts on pictures of celebrities (What’s that white stuff dripping from Lindsay Lohan’s mouth?), his crazy sense of style and his wacky hair, so naturally his next career move would be to write a children’s book, right? Hilton, dubbed a “bully” by some of his celebrity targets, has paired up with illustrator Jen Hill in his book, “The Boy with Pink Hair,” to be published in September 2011 by Celebra Children’s Books.

“I am so proud of ‘The Boy with Pink Hair,’ its important message and the creativity and the passion of the author delivering it–Perez Hilton,” said Raymond Garcia, publisher of Celebra Children’s Books, in a statement. “‘The Boy with Pink Hair’ is a defining story about how believing in yourself and following your aspirations can not only bring out the best in you, but also in those around you. With fun, colorful and endearing characters, Perez reminds readers that by simply accepting our differences we can find the things that unite us all.”

Perez Hilton at Logo's "NewNowNext" Awards in LA in 2010 (Media credit/J. Strauss, Wire Image)

The book tells the story of a boy born with (you guessed it) pink hair, who isn’t accepted by his peers because of his cotton candy-colored ‘do. He discovers what makes him special and other sugary things like that–a far cry from the content of Hilton’s own popular blog in which penises are drawn on people’s faces and dots of “coke” go up their noses.

Hilton, real name Mario Armando Lavandeira, Jr., said in a statement, “I am absolutely elated about this book, which comes from a very dear and genuine place within me. While I can identify in many ways with The Boy with Pink Hair, he represents so much more. This story is about every kid that’s ever had a dream, felt excluded, wanted to belong, and hoped that one day they could do what they loved and make a difference. Today, with this book, that’s exactly what I feel I have the opportunity to do. I hope everyone can share in the spirit of a boy that only wants to bring some happiness to the world around him.”

Will this album make them mainstream? Should it?

“Music for Men” the fourth album (and major label debut) from disco-rock trio Gossip, is being hyped as the album that might garner the group a widespread following. But it’s hard to imagine portly frontwoman Beth Ditto and her bandmates — whom she recently described as coming from a punk scene of “striking vegan radicals” — as ever being part of the mainstream. And that’s not a bad thing.

For “Music for Men” which has an official release date of October 6 but was made available digitally and overseas earlier this year, Ditto, guitarist Brace Paine and drummer Hannah Blilie enlisted legendary producer Rick Rubin (incidentally, they’ve also dropped the “The” from their name). The polished result is a non-stop dance party, a delirious fusion of blues, punk and disco elements.

Genre: Indie rock
Label: Columbia
3 out of 4 stars

On much of the album, synthesizers and keyboards outnumber guitars. The band shamelessly draws from artists like Blondie and Donna Summer — and makes it work. Fans of (The) Gossip’s breakout album, 2006′s “Standing in the Way of Control” will salivate over first single “Heavy Cross” undeniably the album’s catchiest, strongest track, anchored by radiant palm-muted guitar work courtesy of Paine.

Charmingly, Ditto’s self-confidence matches her girth, and the sultry opening track, “Dimestore Diamond” contains a favorite metaphor of hers, painting a portrait of the titular heroine’s transformation from coal to diamond; she dons low-cut sweaters, short skirts and a “homemade haircut” but still “shines like the real thing.”

But Ditto also adopts a rarely-seen confessional tone on many songs, particularly on songs like “For Keeps” and “Love Long Distance.” It’s a bit disarming to hear Ditto, a native Arkansan who is perhaps most known as an outspoken champion of feminism and LGBT rights, sing lovesick lines like “I call your number twice, but it rang and rang / Against my best friend’s advice, I should be ashamed.”

Some might view the album’s tongue-in-cheek title and gender-bending artwork in the liner notes as a political statement on their own, but Ditto also scratches the surface of gender politics on the punkish “8th Wonder” referencing a time “before girls knew they weren’t pretty yet “¦ before boys knew they weren’t tough enough.”

The sassy singer also returns to her grassroots activist roots on the punchy “Pop Goes the World” promising, “We’ll start a demonstration / Or we’ll create a scene / Make noise from our frustration.” It’s a relief to know that Gossip haven’t lost sight of their politics in the pursuit of mass appeal.

Followers of “I’m a Celebrity. Get Me Out of Here.” already know Heidi and Spencer Pratt — a.k.a. Speidi “" have left the show. But now, having been starved for attention, the couple is now complaining that they were starved for food.

According to TMZ.com, Heidi said they were kept in a dark room for over 24 hours, with nothing to eat but water, rice and beans. One anonymous cast member even went so far as to compare the experience to being a prisoner at Guantanamo Bay. Reports also said that Heidi was taken to a hospital and diagnosed with a gastric ulcer.

On Monday night’s two-hour episode of the show, Speidi attempted a comeback, but was rejected by fellow contestants. Spencer is planning to sue NBC, but ITV Studios (producer of the show) has denied any mistreatment. Even the couple’s publicist has stated that no torture occurred, though Stephanie Pratt has said otherwise.

An inside source has also dismissed the allegations to the Los Angeles Times, saying, “They were not starved or tortured, and there were just normal bugs in there,” said the source, “They actually slept most of the time. (And) no one is holding anyone’s passport either.”

What are the odds NBC is into torturing its stars? Slim to none, really. The truly astounding thing here is that these pampered celebs would compare a reality show to being in an infamous prison. Then again, it was not long ago Spencer was telling Complex.com that he is going to revolutionize hip-hop.

Given the track record, it seems safe to assume that it’s all just part of Speidi’s web of insanity. Try not to get caught.

"Miss Macpherson emphatically denies that there is any romantic association between her and Mr Brian Burgess."

The following, before the ###, is a statement released by Elle Macpherson through a publicist Monday.

LONDON, /PRNewswire/ –‚ ‚ Miss Macpherson emphatically denies that there is any romantic association between her and Mr Brian Burgess.

Miss Macpherson is disappointed her friendship with Mr Burgess has been so casually misrepresented for commercial sensationalism. Furthermore Miss Macpherson has a reasonable expectation of privacy in relation to her personal life; in the absence of a romantic element, the publication of the photograph and the innuendo created by it is a gross interference of Miss Macpherson’s rights.

Miss Macpherson is aware of Mr Burgess’s past conduct and also that Mr Burgess has and continues to take significant steps towards restoring his life.

Any continued misrepresentation or invasion of privacy is likely to be the subject of legal proceedings.”

Source: Alexander Carter-Silk, Speechly Bircham

###

Burgess, 56, is a British businessman and a reported convicted drug smuggler. European tabloids have been pumping up a possible relationship since a photo emerged of the pair together.
