PSM3 source says latest Kratos adventure is coming next year.

Last year’s God of War 3 wrapped up the trilogy that told the story of Kratos and his quest for vengeance against the gods, but it appears we may be seeing more God of War rather soon, if the latest issue of PSM3 is to be believed.

“PSM3 has heard from another source that God of War 4 is coming, and will hit in September 2012,” the latest issue of the respected UK Magazine states, “ ”Our source works closely with the God of War universe, and let slip he’d be working on a related project at the same time.”

The rumor comes hot off the heels of speculation that the next God of War game will feature online multiplayer following a job posting looking for a programmer with multiplayer experience to join the God of War team.

Since the end of God of War 3, Sony has stated that there will be further God of War titles released, could we see a reveal at E3?

The Kratos series, driven back to the PSP this year.

Kratos returns to the PlayStation Portable this year in God of War: Ghost of Sparta.

Developed cooperatively by the famed Ready at Dawn Studios, the team that brought you God of War: Chains of Olympus, and Sony’s Santa Monica studio, the title, set in Greek mythology, tells the tale of Kratos’ rise to power as the God of War.

It follows up the events of the original God of War and developers say it “made significant strides to give players a realistic feel that has never been seen before on PSP or any other portable platform.”

In the game you’ll finally learn about Kratos’ scar and more about his backstory and his family, something that’s intrigued me for a while now.

“Excitement for the God of War franchise is at an all-time high and we’re thrilled to continue that momentum with God of War: Ghost of Sparta,” said Scott A. Steinberg, vice president, product marketing, SCEA. “This new adventure will showcase Kratos on PSP like never before in an experience that fans and newcomers can enjoy on the go, anytime, anywhere.”

The game is said to be bigger and better than Chains of Olympus, as it will encompass 25 percent more navigable land space and will incorporate a new weapon system, new magical powers, more on-screen enemies, and bigger boss battles, making Ghost of Sparta a true pocket rocket.

Expect more details this summer at E3 2010 June 15-17.

Buy the ultimate edition, get songs from Killswitch Engage, Opeth, Dream Theater and Trivium.

If metal is your music, and killing shi*t is your game, you’re going to love the upcoming PS3-exclusive “God of War III” and for the true enthusiast, the Ultimate Edition will be the edition to have.

Sony today revealed the “Blood & Metal EP,” as the latest addition to the $99 Ultimate Edition, but what’s on it, is more than alluring.

Tunes from (personal favorite bands) Trivium, Opeth, Dream Theater, Killswitch Engage, and Taking Dawn, will grace the title and the EP, which you’ll get in .mp3 format separately for your listening enjoyment.

Best of all, some tunes, from the bands, will only be released on the EP and are, somehow, inspired by God of War III.

Mike Portnoy, Dream Theater’s drummer, besides being stupidly talented, offered this sentiment about the game and its music.

“This is the first time in 24 years that we’ve written and recorded a song for anything other than one of our own albums, so we’re up for the challenge and excited to have been asked.”

And straight from Sony.

"Music has always been an important part of videogames and can help bring titles to life," said Stig Asmussen, God of War III Game Director. "Our goal is to make God of War III a special release in all areas and this just another way to offer fans and newcomers a worthwhile experience."

Well now, maybe you didn’t know, buy music is my blood, and this news just sold me on the $99 Ultimate Edition. Yes, indeed!

Kratos triumphantly returns next month.

Sony today nailed down a firm release date of Nov. 17, and named every last Trophy to be collected in the upcoming God of War Collection pack, and we couldn’t be more ready to see Kratos again.

The collection includes remastered versions of God of War I and II in full-on HD on Blu-Ray disc, and releases midway through November, a week after Modern Warfare 2, and a week before Thanksgiving and the official start to the Holiday 2009 shopping season. Joy.

If you haven’t played either title, these remastered versions are the best you’re going to get, and the box looks like it would fit quite well in say, a stocking! Waking up to Kratos, what a morning that’d be!

The God of War collection will be a highlight of the holiday season.

Before you get too excited, the new entry is called the God of War collection and is a bundle of God of War and God of War II for the PS3. Both games will be included on a single Bluray disc at full 1280 x 720 resolution. Both games are remastered and will play incredibly smoothly on the PS3 despite the fact both games were made for the PS2. The game will be released for the low price of $39.99 which is an incredibly value for two PS3 games in one. Definitely a deal you should look into considering God of War III is being released in 2010. The God of War Collection will be released during the Holiday season. Keep checking back here for updates. Comment below with thoughts.

In a not-so-surprising move, God of War 3 will be developed for the Playstation 3. This comes on the heels of GoW 2′s amazing successes earlier in the year on the PS2, which has propelled the action series to the top of the Sony gaming world.

God of War 2 is considered by many to be the best Playstation 2 game ever, and it is reasonable to think that the third installment looks even better on paper — 1080p, sixaxis, digital audio, etc.

But Sony is going forward on God of War 3 without two of the top names behind the success of God of War 2.

Cory Barlog, who directed God of War 2, is out and no longer works for Sony Computer Entertainment America’s Santa Monica division. “We are grateful for his work and creative vision for the critically acclaimed God of War franchise,” SCEA said in a statement.

Also seemingly missing from the equation will be David Jaffe, who was the creative director of the God of War Series. The industry vet also has the Twisted Metal Playstation franchise on his resume, according to his blog. Jaffe went independent. His new studio, Eat Sleep Play, is working on a PSP port of Twisted Metal, Gamespot reported recently.

With the loss of Jaffe and the big-mouthed yet highly talented Barlog, suddenly the success of God of War 3 goes from a sure thing to a potential question mark.

One of the best Playstation 2 games ever

There are few games out there that you will enjoy so much that you will despise having to stop playing to take care of other responsibilities; like food, sleep, feeding your dog.

But even rarer then that, are games that you have so much fun with, you spend every second that you are not playing it, thinking about when you will be able to play it again. God of War was one of those games and God of War II is just as guilty.

God of War II’s story continues right where the original left off.

If you have not played the original, go get both games, because here is a sequel that avoids the "trying so hard to be better than the original but fails in everything" that plagues so many sequels to great games, ruing their franchises.

Mere words cannot express fully how much enjoying this game is. The first GoW proved Sony had mastered the Play Station 2 to its full potential with visuals, controls, movies, music, story and scarce load times.

GoW II does not try to change the formula that made the first game great in any way.

In a word, God of War II is nonstop. The moment you start a new game, from the title menu, the game throws you into the action. Enemies are plentiful and coming for you. And in right there in the background is another enemy 20 times your size looking at you, waiting for its chance. Impending climatic battle already awaits you within the first minute of the game.

The battles only get better and more demanding. When popping in the game for the first time, I kept telling myself, "let’s just keep playing until the next save point. I just want to see where this game goes next."

Seven hours later…

Nonstop action that flows seamlessly back and forth with movie cut scenes equals full immersion.

The controls are solid and expanded from the original. There are plenty of options to choose from when pummeling your enemies.

I found myself killing every enemy I could possibly find because it was so much fun.

Each enemy type has a set of unique death visuals, so the game never gets repetitive.

There are only two real characters in this game, Kratos (the main character) and anyone not Kratos (enemies), giving lots of endless fun for all.

The only downside is that the game is shorter than the original. However, there’s tons of unlockable content that gives the game a high replay value. Plus with the announcement of God of War III, blood thirst is rising.

God of War II is an amazing addition to the still viable Playstation 2 platform.
