Fight Night Round 4 gets more DLC, retail price drop

Electronic Arts today announced a new piece of DLC for the award-winning boxing game Fight Night Round 4 as well as an official $20 price drop on the fighting sim.

On sale “early December” will be the unnamed DLC pack for PS3 and Xbox 360 and inside it will be two new game-modes and a few fresh faces to bash in with bone crushing force.

Through the DLC, available for $9.99 on Xbox Live and the PlayStation Network, Bernard Hopkins, Sonny Liston and Evander Holyfield jump into the ring as playable characters and new game-modes “Old School Rules” and “Ring Rivalries” look to keep the fighting fresh.

The descriptions for both new game-modes were vague stating only that Old School Rules will offer the player a “new take to the traditional boxing experience,” and Ring Rivalry will “allow you to re-create some of the greatest match ups in boxing history.”

And if you’ve yet to experience the HD-boxing simulator, EA revealed today that the official MSRP for the title is now $39.99. A stocking stuffer perhaps?

However you slice it, it’s a great time to be a Fight Night fan.

Holmes vs. Tyson in Fight Night Round 4

Electronic Arts released Fight Night Round 4 back in June, but are still hyping the game like it’s a new release. That said, it’s a damn fine game, so we wouldn’t want you to miss it. You know, if you’re into the whole primal urge to smash faces in high-definition.

We already showed you how a Tyson vs. Ali fight would go down in the game, but today we’ve got a bout that actually happened. Larry Holmes vs. Mike Tyson.

Tyson won that match from 1988 in KO fashion in four rounds, and from the looks of this video, Holmes says he knew how to fight him, but just didn’t execute.

In Fight Night Round 4 you can simulate a rematch, and if you don’t have the game, check out the demo on Xbox Live for Gold and Silver members as well as the PlayStation Network.

New fighters, control mechanic available for Fight Night Round 4

Electronic Arts today released the first round of DLC for the award-winning Fight Night Round 4, naming new and altered fighters as the goods to be had in the “Boxer Pack.”

Which born-for-blood, smash-facers did EA select? None other than the famed fighters Oscar De La Hoya, Vitali and Wladimir Klitschko, and alternate versions of George Foreman and James Toney.

What’s more is the long-awaited control mechanic overhaul has finally arrived as well via a free game update which now, thankfully, adds face button controls to your arsenal of badassery.

Both the Boxer Pack and the title update are available in the Xbox Live Marketplace and the PlayStation Store right now. Enjoy destroying faces!

Boxer Pack for EAâ€™s FIGHT NIGHT ROUND 4 includes several new characters

The first downloadable boxer pack for Fight Night Round 4 will be released in late August via Xbox Live and the Playstation Network. Xbox will charge 800 Microsoft Points, while the Playstation Network will sell the pack for $9.99.

The downloadable pack will include Oscar De La Hoya, Vitali Klischko, Wladmir Klitschko, and alternate versions of George Foreman and James Toney. However, EA isnâ€™t just including a boxer pack. They will be releasing a FREE downloadable game update at the end of August which will include additional trunks, gloves, shorts as well as new button control scheme to allow players to use face buttons on the controllers to throw punches, hooks, uppercuts and haymakers.

A new demo featuring the buttons will be released on both Xbox Live and Playstation Network in early September which will feature Mike Tyson and Muhammed Ali.

Fight Night Round 4 is currently available for the PS3 and Xbox360 and is rated T for Teen.
