They say that black is the new black and that was all that was needed for the Little Black Dress Party at Estate with special guest DJ Havana Brown.

Everyone dawned their own styles from black dresses to guys wearing black slacks and shirts. Havana Brown played everything from pop to electro/house and had everyone on their feet dancing the night away.

MIAMI — I was on tour.

For the past week, I’ve been touring South Florida to kickoff Jasmine Solano’s brand new EP and music video. She’s a Boston girl, a DJ, and an artist who has burst on the scene lately with er single “That’s Not It!” available on iTunes now.

These combination of DJ and artist is deadly, because she fully understands the music and what people like. With her latest EP out, touring with Wiz Khalifa, and visiting Miami, Philly, Boston, and NYC to promote her single "That’s Not It." She is truly a testament to what the music industry needs. Self-driven, determined, and with her management behind her, ShamelessMGMT, she can only go higher.

Our first trip was to sunny Miami on the Bread and Butter Music Series, with Ashley Outrageous & Samantha, with PacDiv and Dom Kennedy. The series also featured other artists that included 7 Figure Entertainment artists, iHipHop’s LaVish, followed by Skotch Davis, and Skeme.

Jasmine Solano was the main DJ for the evening and gave the crowd a special performance of her new single "That’s Not It!" The crowd were excited about all these artists performing and in turn the artists loved and greeted everyone at the end.

In every city and every venue, you’d find her mingling and networking and just plain working the crowd. She’s a pleaser, and she’s going places.

Recently, Activision announced that the California-based DJ will become a playable character in the upcoming scratch-em-up, and add two “exclusive mixes” to the game’s already varied soundtrack.

“I’m excited about finally getting to bring the art of turntablisim’s defining skills, as well as two exclusive mixes, to DJ Hero 2,” said DJ Qbert. “It’s been a dream of mine as a gamer to battle myself on the turntables and now millions of fans around the world and their friends will get their chance to also.”

DJ Hero 2 hits stores this fall for the XBOX 360, PS3, and Wii.

NEW YORK — Greenhouse is your cup of tea on a Tuesday night. Blast specifically went to see DJ Jazzy Jeff, but unfortunately he was not able to come. In his place were DJ Stretch Armstrong and DJ IronLyon who both brought the house down with hip-hop and electronic beats that got the crowd moving every which way.

Greenhouse is truly green — It’s a LEED certified, two-floor, 6,000 square foot nightclub and lounge in SoHo.

We always have a blast going to different places and comparing Boston to NYC. Like sports and its rivalry such as the Red Sox and Yankees, you won’t find that at the greenhouse. You’ll find that the crowd is very receptive to new comers. But, we mean, don’t go in their rocking a Sox hat and jersey; you’re only asking for trouble in that respect.

Greenhouse is surrounded by branches of people from NYC. We were welcomed to a crowd that dressed wearing shirts, skirts, ties and shoes to another set of crowds that looked comfortable jeans, goodies, and boots. No matter what they were wearing, everyone was out to just dance and have a good time.

The setting and feel of the place makes you feel like you’re in a jungle. Leaves surrounding the walls and ceilings with lights on the ceilings and walls, which makes it a very unique and unlike any night venue we have visited. They have a downstairs that plays house and techno as well. Also, as an added surprise they had feather girls at least that’s what we call them.

If you are in NYC, especially on a Tuesday, we would absolutely recommend visiting the greenhouse. The night is hosted by the talented Roxy Cottontail who and now is a resident DJ at Greenhouse spinning the newest dance music to a fabulous and eclectic crowd. There’s something for everyone at this venue.

Greenhouse is located at 150 Varick St., and it’s 21+.

Blast caught up with all that is going on with Caroline D’Amore. She’s an actress, model, clothing designer and DJ. She’s staring in “Sorority Row,” which Blast screened this week for some lucky winners.

Be on the lookout for her new film and her swimwear line on the catwalk.

Blast: First we’d like to talk about your new film, “Sorority Row.” Have you worked with the horror genre before?

Caroline D’Amore: No, I did a really low budget indie horror film where I played a ghost but I’ve always been a really big horror film fanatic. This is my first big horror film so I’m really excited about it.

Blast: I recently saw on another interview that you mentioned that “Sorority Row” has elements from films such as “Mean Girls” and “Scream,” can you explain that a bit more?

CD: Yeah, honestly it’s the dry sense of humor that all these young girls have.

I feel like this people will have low expectations for this movie, but the witty dry sense of humor is so right on and funny throughout the whole thing. Without the horror, it’s a comedy, without the comedy it’s a horror film. So it’s one of the better horror films. Dry and hysterical but really scary at the same time.

Blast: Do you think you’ll do more horror movies in the future, or what genre would you like to explore more?

CD: Absolutely. Maybe not the same type but I’d love to do more-whether working, writing or..I’d just like to be involved. I love horror movies-they’re never going to win an Oscar but it’s a fun time shooting, so I’m game! And everybody loves horror films, there’s a big market for them.

Blast: I’m also interested in your DJ career-how did you get into music?

CD: Honestly, I’ve always been obsessed with DJing and DJ AM kind of showed me everything. I was always watching him and thinking he was the coolest guy in the world-I still do. And I’d annoy him — ‘whats that? what are you doing there?’ And I took a job. A guy asked for a female DJ, and I told him I was, but then I thought, ‘Oh no! What did I do?’ So I asked DJ AM, and he helped.

After that I got asked to do another show, and it kind of blew up from there. I’ve been all over the world — Egypt, I did the Olympics, and then I did the MTV awards in Japan. I DJ’ed with Will.i.am and somebody in Japan came up to me that night and asked to sign me!

It’s been the most amazing trippy experience ever, I never thought that is where my career would go. If I had to have a career anywhere else, Japan would be the place. It’s been a wild ride and it’s so fun, and I’m actually getting offers from really great artists to remix their stuff.

Blast: So knowing about music and rhythm must be helpful when doing fashion shows, right? How does those two aspects of your life connect?

CD: Everything is slowly connecting, it’s the weirdest thing! It’s all kind of coming together. I think my future, end goal in life would probably be just to have my own production company, make my own movies and put music to it that I like. Something where I can combine all of my talents. I’m on a good path right now.

Blast: And you have a fashion line?

CD: A swimwear line called D’Amore by Marceau and we’ve done Smashbox and Miami Fashion Week, all that.

It’s on the Dash website and featured on Kourtney & Khloe Take Miami. We used their Dash models, and it was pretty cool. Seven hundred people got turned away at the door; it was packed!

Blast: Is there a specific trend in fashion right now that you really love? Or is there a trend you don’t like for that matter?

CD: Yeah, I kind of don’t always go with the trend. I really (don’t like) the little headbands that are in right now. I kind of like cool vintage rocker shirts, I love the look of looking like you raided your boyfriends closet. It’s always cute.

Blast: Anything else you’d like to add?

CD: I just want everybody to see Sorority Row and enjoy!

DJ AM was found dead in his New York City apartment Friday. He was 36.

“Adam ‘DJ AM’ Goldstein was found deceased this afternoon in his New York City apartment,” said Jenni Weinman, Goldstein’s publicist, in a statement. “The circumstances surrounding his death are unclear. Out of respect for his family and loved ones, please respect their privacy at this time.”

TMZ reported that the famed DJ’s body was found at 5:20 p.m. The gossip site that also broke Michael Jackson’s death also claimed prescription medication bottles had been found near his body.

The death of DJ AM comes about a year after he and Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker survived a plane crash in South Carolina that killed four other people.

Blast ran into DJ AM and Barker in Hollywood in June during the E3 convention. They opened an amazing, celebrity-stacked show with Jay-Z and Eminem.

The apparent overdose with speculations about suicide is troubling. DJ AM survived a plane crash, which led to doctors finding a potentially fatal blood clot.

DJ AM’s Twitter account has a final entry dated August 25 that reads “New york, new york. Big city of dreams, but everything in new york aint always what it seems,” quoting a 1983 Grandmaster Flash song.

The art of DJing has come a long way since our middle school dances.

Nothing sums that up better than the Eks Otus controller with built-in six channel sound card and built in touchpad.

Where records gave way to CD’s, CD’s have given way to laptops and iMacs. Software like Deckadance can emulate an entire soundboard with two tracks just like those old double turntables.

The Otus takes that a step further. It has a built in touchpad and left/right mouse buttons, so the DJ doesn’t need to have a mouse or reach over to the laptop’s touchpad. The Otus is mean to be the only thing you have to touch to put on an entire night at the local club and keep everyone dancing.

The design of the Otus really stands out. It’s totally powered by the computer’s USB, and it lights up, looking all sexy when you’re using it.

There are several touch pad buttons and a large, solid feeling, dual purpose jog wheel. The side is used for pitch while the top of the wheel lets you scratch.

The only complaint about the Otus is that it’s almost too futuristic. A lot of the buttons are touch-bottons with no tactile response, so sometimes you’re not sure if you actually activated a button. There are also several looping buttons that are a bit close to each other.

There are four mini wheels above the legs of the Otus that can be customized for any purpose. Their placement around the board takes some getting used to, but you’ll be able to reach fine. It still beats reaching the laptop. You can flip through folders and files right on the Otus without even touching your computer.

The Otus lets you control two virtual decks on one machine with templates for your favorite DJ software, though they not only recommend Deckadance, but they give everyone a free copy of the software when you buy the unit.

The unit has two stereo and digital audio ports as well as a dedicated headphone jack.

The Otus can completely replace a CDJ, and it’s the perfect way to go digital.

For those about to rock — we salute you. And for those who aren’t, Activision is cool with that too.

Tradmork reported that Activision, makers of the highly successful Guitar Hero series have recently filed a trademark for the term “DJ Hero.”

The official documents, filed February 8, state that Activision is looking to use the term in conjunction with “computer game software and related instruction manual sold together as a unit. Interactive video game programs; computer game discs; downloadable software for use in connection with computer games; video game controllers; interactive video game comprised of a CD or DVD sold as a unit with a video game controller.”

While there’s no official word from Activision about the possible turntable simulator, it should be noted that gamers have been clamoring for a title similar to what is being hinted at for quite some time. Check out the custom Guitar Hero turntable Gizmodo reported on at CES this year.

This is far from a confirmed game announcement. In fact, Activision has filed multiple trademarks dealing with the Guitar Hero franchise merely to protect the name. Ever hear of Guitar Villain? What about Drum Hero? They may not be games, but Activision holds the rights to these names just like they now hold the rights to DJ Hero.
