Ring in the new year with the REAL champagne of beers!

Bostonians and beer enthusiasts alike already know that Samuel Adams beer is delicious, but it doesn’t hurt that the beer masters at the world’s oldest brewery think so, too. In early December, Infinium ale, the product of a two-year partnership between Germany’s Weihenstephan Brewery and the makers of Samuel Adams, Boston Beer Co., will be available for sale in the United States.

Jim Koch, the founder of Boston Beer Co., told the “Boston Globe” that Infinium’s taste is “sort of in between a champagne, a dessert wine, and maybe a Sam Adams Noble Pils.” He added, “You get some of the body and mouthfeel of a beer, some of the hop character of a beer, but it’s very dry and acidic without being thin.”

The ale is golden and bubbly and has notes of pear, apple, peach, and apricot, but don’t be fooled by the fruit or the fancy bottle — Infinium contains 10.3 percent alcohol, which is more than twice as much as the typical American beer.

So you can forget Miller High Life, as Infinium just might take its place as the “champagne of beers,” and it could just as easily take the place of your glass of bubbly on New Year’s Eve. But you’d better start hoarding cases the moment it hits shelves this December, because Jim Koch told the “Boston Globe” that he expects liquor stores to be sold out of Infinium by New Year’s Day. Cheers!

The 750-milliliter bottles of Infinium will be sold for $19.99.

I may have been a few drinks in when I coined the phrase at a food and wine festival, but I really did mean every word. I am not a big fan of wine. Red wines taste like moldy feet to me, and white, well it’s OK, but I probably won’t be caught running out at 10 p.m. on a Friday night to pick up a bottle.

Pink wine, however, is a whole other story. It’s fruity and sweet and so wonderfully not like wine that, well it had me at hello.

I was fairly decided about my pink-only stand with wine when I stumbled on Barefoot Moscato Spumante Champagne at the wine festival. It was not pink, but I drank every last drop.

Barefoot Moscato Spumante champagne has the perfect blend of bubbles. The flavor is sweet and fruity unlike most champagne that I always felt had a sort of bland flavor. Skip dessert and try this wine. It would also be the perfect accompaniment to cheese and crackers in my professional non-wine person opinion. The saltiness will offset a bit of the sweet and compliment the evening wonderfully.

My favorite part of this delightful drink is that it only cost $8.99. For that price inviting a few friends over for an evening of bubbly has never been more accessible. Or you could just drink it all yourself. Trust me, I would completely understand.

Pomegranates have long been in vogue for their antioxidant properties, their yummy, juicy, messy flavor, and even their seeds.

So you just knew we’d make a booze out of it.

If you’re looking for a new after dinner drink, Pama: The Pomegranate Liqueur and its deep natural red color may present some potential.

It is a pretty thick, syrupy liqueur with a string bouquet and flavor. First taste: cough syrup. Second taste: fruity beverage.

I guess it grows on you.

They also make Pama Chocolates — the fruit drink paired with Garrison Confections resulting in six alcoholic chocolately treats.

As always, here are some drink recipes. Now go get your drunk on.

Cozy PAMA Cider

2oz. PAMA
3oz. Hot Mulled Apple Cider
Cinnamon
Super Fine Sugar
Orange Spiral

Heat wine glass with hot water and empty before building cocktail. Rim with Cinnamon and Super Fine Sugar. Add Pama and Hot Mulled Apple Cider. Garnish with Orange Spiral.

Champagne Dreams

1 oz PAMA Pomegranate Liqueur
1 oz Cointreau
1 oz Fresh orange juice
3 oz Champagne or sparkling wine

Assemble the first three ingredients in a cocktail glass with ice. Slowly pour in the Champagne while stirring very gently to retain the bubbles and chill the mixture. Strain into a Champagne flute and garnish with an orange zest.

The PAMA Pine

4 oz Van Gogh Pineapple Vodka
4 oz PAMA Pomegranate Liqueur
Splash of Lime Juice

Shake and serve up.
