Shane Kim, former VP of strategy and business development for Microsoft’s  Interactive Entertainment division, and one of the fathers of the Xbox 360 and some of it’s biggest franchises has joined the GameStop board of directors.

Though no concrete details are available on just what Kim will be doing for the Texas based company, executive chairman Dan DeMatteo said, “[Kim will] bring valuable insight in supporting the advancement of GameStop’s digital strategy.”

It’s a safe bet that Kim will lend his Xbox Live fueled knowledge to the company’s growing online presence. In recent months, the retailer has purchased both online gaming portal Kongregate as well as digital distribution service Impulse and streaming game company Spawn Labs.
