LOS ANGELES — Those who watched Nintendo’s press conference earlier today were treated to a montage of third party games that were on their way to Nintendo’s brand new console; the Wii- U. The footage looked good, great even. There’s just one problem, it wasn’t from the Wii U at all.

The footage was from the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions of the games, Nintendo president Reggie Fils-Aime confirmed in a post conference interview with Game Trailers TV. The reasoning? As Reggie puts it, the console is a year out from release, and footage of the game’s running on the new console simply aren’t ready yet.

Speaking as someone in attendance during the presentation earlier today, the crowd was very impressed with the footage. Was it fair to not note that the videos weren’t from Wii U hardware?
