It was revealed on its official website this morning that Darksiders II will be pushed back until August. Its original release date of June 26 was changed to ensure the developers “meet the high quality threshold that [they] are committed to achieving.”

The website denies this change has anything to do with the recent layoffs at Vigil, and reaffirms that it was done merely to make sure the game is as good as it can be. “Darksiders II is a substantially larger game than its predecessor and the ambition of this project requires extra time to polish to the high standards that Vigil Games and THQ are committed to.”
