Evolution of gaming online Why does some games work online and others not? Games online have evolved from smaller flash games to massive social worlds. Being social online is not something new, and now the trends are moving more towards combining this with gaming. The biggest type today is the MMO genre, especially the MMORPG’s like WoW. Another variation of MMO is online poker and that too have evolved to a massive entertainment hobby online. Opposite to WoW, poker can be played at many rooms and therefore a recommendation is to first seek out the best poker room that suits your style.

Retro: Gitaroo Man Retro: Gitaroo Man

This review originally appeared on ReviewCenter.com in 2002. It scored a 9.1 at the time. By Carlos McElfish KOEI is most widely known for kicking out strategy games. So the last thing this reviewer was expecting from them was an extremely entertaining music/rhythm game. KOEI has managed to not only avoid the common pitfalls of breaking into a new... [Read more]

Retro: Maximo: Ghosts to Glory Retro: Maximo: Ghosts to Glory

This review originally appeared on ReviewCenter.com in 2002. It scored a 7.9 at the time, right as the site changed from 5 stars to a 1-10 scale. Surprisingly, and to the shock of many veteran gamers, there is an entire generation of up and coming electronic ball busters that are not familiar with the origins of Maximo. It’s a sad-but-true fact... [Read more]

Retro: Force 21 Retro: Force 21

This review originally appeared on Reviewcenter.com in 1999. Force 21 is far from your normal real-time gtrategy game. You don’t have a base where you begin — mining resources, building buildings, which in turn allow you to build certain units. No, it’s nothing like that. Force 21 doesn’t try to be that. It’s something... [Read more]

Retro: Cool Boarders 3 Retro: Cool Boarders 3

This review originally appeared on Reviewcenter.com in 1999. Although 989 Studio’s Cool Boarders 3 is a very good snowboarding game with great graphics and outstanding sound quality, it didn’t quite live up to its anticipations or expectations. After Cool Boarders 1 and 2 paved the road people were expecting more out of the third component... [Read more]

Retro: Fatal Frame Retro: Fatal Frame

This review originally appeared on Reviewcenter.com in 2002. For us, it all started with The 7th Guest for the PC. We were indescribably intrigued by this game at the time. The ability to journey through a beautifully rendered haunted mansion (as good as you could pre-render n 1993) via a first person perspective was something that, at the time,... [Read more]
