Picnic quickie review 0

★★☆☆

MIAMI — This is singlemindedly American food, to the point that they even have two poached eggs on grilled Spam served on homemade hash patties topped with Hollandaise.

This being South Beach, they have the balls to charge $11 for Spam! But it’s not all so grim once you dig a little deeper into the menu: French-baked eggs with salmon and scallions are $9.

It seems like nobody has pancakes down here on South Beach, but here you can get buttermilk pancakes, three for $6. Omelets run $10. Lunch and dinner carry forth with their "picnic" theme, offering burgers, fries, baskets of wings, hand-cut fries, corn dogs. Try the deviled eggs (four for $2) and the bacon wrapped dates for $5, just so you can tell somebody you did.

Service is incredibly uneven to the point of being sloppy, which is a trifle heartbreaking because you can tell they mean well.
