Inspired by two of the most highly-anticipated games of the year, video game accessory maker KontrolFreek has created two new lines of its well-known thumb stick extenders. The Halo 4 FPS Freek INFINITY has a bright blue pad emblazoned with the UNSC logo encircled by multiple, slightly raised rings.  The Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 FPS Freek HAVOC comes in the standard black matte finish and showcases the well-known Black Ops skull.

In terms of performance and grip, both new items are pretty much identical to KontrolFreek’s standard line of previous thumbstick extenders, which can be “installed” in seconds simply by popping them onto any PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360 controller. Both the HAVOC and INIFINITY are also both concave and quite comfortable.

While KontrolFreek swears by their claim that their ½ inch extenders improve accuracy and precision, the jury is still out. Personally, I first popped on a couple of their extenders to my Xbox 360 controller two years ago and they haven’t come off since. While they do initially take a little getting used to, I find an Xbox controller to feel far more comfortable with extenders attached than without. As an avid player of competitive online first-person shooters, I honestly did witness a small, yet noticeable improvement in my performance.

In the end, what it really comes down to is personal preference and comfort. While I can’t promise that they will improve your game, KontrolFreek’s new thumbstick extenders are worth checking out, especially if you’re really into first-person shooters. The Halo 4 themed INFINITY is available now at KontrolFreek.com, while the Black Ops 2 themed HAVOC will become available beginning October 23rd.
