“Uncle Frank” Potenza, a regular guest on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” died Tuesday morning. He was 77.

Potenza was actually the uncle of host Jimmy Kimmel. The nighttime talk show host tweeted: “thank you for your kind words about a very kind man – my Uncle Frank – who passed away this morning.”

Potenza was a New York City police officer for 20 years and has been a regular fixture on the show since 2003.

Playing a security guard on the show, Potenza regularly took part in comedy bits featuring an actual security guard, Guillermo Rodriguez, who works security in the parking lot.

The show’s producers released a statement saying that his “kindness and humor” would be missed.

A cause of death was not released.
