On Wednesday, in support of their newest album, Avenged Sevenfold brought their fall tour to Boston’s own TD Garden. The Hail to The King Tour is in support of the band’s recently released album that shares the name.
Swedish metal act Ghost opened the show. Formed in 2008, they have gained a considerable amount of attention over the past year. Their live show consists of the entire band dressed in hooded robes, with the vocalist dressed as a Catholic Cardinal. None of their identities are publicly known.
Experimental rock/metal veterans, Deftones, followed. With a very energetic live presence, Chino Moreno and the other members of the band performed a mix of songs scattered across their 9 album discography. They are currently supporting 2012’s Koi No Yokan.
Taking the stage with the support of a quite substantial crowd, Avenged Sevenfold kicked off their set with “Shepherd of Fire.” Appropriate to the song name, their set was infused with a healthy amount of pyrotechnics, shooting off left and right. Their most recent radio single (that also shares its name with the tour and album name). Hail To The King drew a fair amount of crowd participation as the 4th song of their set. By the end of the night, their set totaled around 15 songs.
