These are some of the greatest moments of Stephenie Meyer’s series. If you have not yet read “Breaking Dawn”, the fourth novel in the series, and do not want to read any spoilers, please do not continue reading this. If not, enjoy!

10 – The end of “Breaking Dawn”

“‘We have plenty of time to work on it,’ I reminded him.

‘Forever and forever and forever,’ he murmured.

‘That sounds exactly right to me.’

And then we continued blissfully into this small but perfect piece of our forever.”

9 – Bella and Edward’s first ever kiss from “Twilight”

“I couldn’t breathe.

He hesitated – not in the normal way, the human way.

Not the way a man might hesitate before he kissed a woman, to gauge her reaction, to see how he would be received. Perhaps he would hesitate to prolong the moment, that ideal moment of anticipation, sometimes better than the kiss itself.

Edward hesitated to test himself, to see if this was safe, to make sure he was still in control of his need.

And then his cold, marble lips pressed very softly against mine.”

8 – Jacob imprints from “Breaking Dawn”

“My jerking came to a stop; heat flooded through me, stronger than before, but it was a new kind of heat – not a burning.

It was a glowing.

Everything inside me came undone as I stared at the tiny porcelain face of the half-vampire, half-human baby. […] The gravity of the earth no longer tied me to the place where I stood.

It was the baby girl in the blond vampire’s arms that held me here now.”

7 – The cliff jump in “New Moon”

“I smiled and raised my arms straight out, as if I were going to dive, lifting my face into the rain. But it was too ingrained from years of swimming at the public pool – feet first, first time. I leaned forward, crouching to get more spring…

And I flung myself from the cliff.”

6 – Bella first sees Edward in “Twilight”

“It was there, sitting in the lunchroom, trying to make conversation with seven curious strangers, that I first saw them.

They were sitting in the corner of the cafeteria, as far away from where I sat as possible in the long room. There were five of them. […] The last was lanky, less bulky, with untidy, bronze-colored hair. He was more boyish than the others, who looked like they could be in college, or even teachers here rather than students.

[…]’That’s Edward. He’s gorgeous, of course, but don’t waste your time. He doesn’t date. Apparently none of the girls here are good-looking enough for him.’ She sniffed, a clear case of sour grapes. I wondered when he’d turned her down.”

5 – The wedding from “Breaking Dawn”

“I didn’t realize I was crying until it was time to say the binding words.

‘I do,’ I managed to choke out in a nearly unintelligible whisper, blinking my eyes clear so I could see his face.

When it was his turn to speak, the words rang clear and victorious.

‘I do,’ he vowed.”

4 – Bella’s first kiss with Edward as a vampire in “Breaking Dawn”

“It was like he’d never kissed me – like this was our first kiss. And in truth, he’d never kissed me this way before.

It almost made me feel guilty. Surely I was in breach of the contract. I couldn’t be allowed to have this, too.”

3 – Bella punches Jacob in “Eclipse”

“Finally, he let go of my face and leaned away.

‘Are you done now?’ I asked in an expressionless voice.

‘Yes,’ he sighed. He started to smile, closing his eyes.

I pulled my arm back and then let it snap forward, punching him in the mouth with as much power as I could force out of my body.

There was a crunching sound.

‘Ow! OW!’ I screamed, frantically hopping up and down in agony while I clutched my hand to my chest. It was broken, I could feel it.

Jacob stared at me in shock. ‘Are you alright?’

‘No, dammit! You broke my hand!‘”

2 – The meadow scene from “Twilight”

“‘Isabella.’ He pronounced my full name carefully, then playfully ruffled my hair with his free hand. A shock ran through my body at his casual touch. ‘Bella, I couldn’t live with myself if I ever hurt you. You don’t know how it’s tortured me.’ […] He lifted his glorious, agonized eyes to mine. ‘You are the most important thing to me now. The most important thing to me ever.'”

1 – The tent scene from “Eclipse”

“‘Please!’ Edward hissed. ‘Do you mind!’

‘What?’ Jacob whispered back, his tone surprised.

‘Do you think you could attempt to control your thoughts?’ Edward’s low whisper was furious.

‘No one said you had to listen,’ Jacob muttered, defiant, yet still embarrassed. ‘Get out of my head.’

‘I wish I could. You have no idea how loud your little fantasies are. It’s like you’re shouting them at me.’

‘I’ll try to keep it down,’ Jacob whispered sarcastically.”

i love the series (the four books), and those were really good moments… what i don’t understand is why people say that they hated breaking dawn, but then there are like 3 or 4 breaking dawn moments in the top ten twilight moments… i really loved breaking dawn though….

    long may it continue!
    hehe
    this was a good article..

    Look forward to reading more!!

i wish they included this scene in new moon where edward and bella came back from italy…

“Before you, Bella, my life was like a moonless night. Very dark, but there were stras-points of light and reason…. And then you shot across my sky like a meteor. Suddenly everything was on fire; ther was brilliancy, there was beauty. When you were gone, when the meteor had fallen over the hirizon, everything went black. Nothing had changed, but my eyes were blinded by the light. i couldn’t see the stars anymore. And there was no more reason for anything. […] My heart hsn’t beat in almost ninety years, but this was different. it was like my heart was gone-like i was hollow. Like i’d left everything that was inside me here with you.”

    Edward…………………… *sigh*

This one has to be included in my list. Without a DOUBT in Chapter 20, when Edward proposes.
“I promise to love you forever-every single day of forever. Will you marry me?”

I must agree with these, though of course I could come up with 10, 20, 30 more…

The #1, tent scene, is one of my all time favorites as well. It’s one of the reasons Eclipse is my favorite story out of the 3, now 4.

And Breaking Dawn…well…I loved it. Great story telling. Nothing should ever just be about the end result, but about the journey it takes to get to the end. And I loved the journey that Stephenie Meyer took us on.

And I too am looking forward to the movie version of the first book. Robert Pattinson is a gifted actor, and I can’t wait to see him bring the character of Edward to life; not to mention seeing how amazing he will be in his two Independent films coming up, How To Be and Little Ashes…definitely an actor to keep your eye on!

these were definately some of my favorite moments from the whole series<3 & i still dont get why people are hating on Breaking Dawn so much? Just because it didnt happen like you wanted it sdoesnt mean that everything about it is bad… i didnt see anything that happened in the book coming but i still loved it. Be open-minded people!

I absolutely loved the tent scene 🙂 haha . i couldn’t stop cracking up . the meadow scene was also very sweet . it should have been #1 .
i also don’t get why a lot of people don’t like Breaking Dawn . Just because something happened tht you didn’t want to happen doesn’t mean it’s a bad book . . . obviously Stephenie can’t put everything in tht everyone wants . Like ‘Alex’ said , I loved the book even tho it as nothing like I expected =]
    good top 10 tho . !

the best scene most definitly was the meadow scene from twilight. it gave me the chills to read just that little quote. when i read it, i was grinning from ear to ear and hyperventalating! twlight was the best book ever, and i will never forget it as long as i live.

    !!!!!!!!
I’m sorry, but honestly, how does that part of the tent scene top the MEADOW scene?
Because isn’t it, in the end, about Bella and Edwards love?
(This of course is my crazed fangirl rampage.)
    Nothing tops the meadow.
    Not to me.
    *sighs*
And what about when she has the realization at the end of New Moon.
    “You love me!” Moment.
    It was amazing.
And what about when they’re parting in Twilight and they have that intense moment as he holds her?

And even better, what about the ‘angry grizzlies’ moment when Edward comes come after having Alice keep Bella ‘safe’ and its major intense-romantic-lovey between them?

Lastly, why isn’t the Emmett Bella Arm Wrestle in there at 10.5 or something.
    That was epic.
Or when Edward hears Bellas mind at the end of breaking dawn?

*faints from lack of breathing and typing too fast*

OMGOMGOMGOMGOMG! All those scenes gave me the thrills!!! I love every moment when Edward’s with Bella. And I actually like Jacob too. It’s just too bad that Bella’s heart only belongs to one person. The tent scene was really intimate, but in an indirect way. It was like this little tete-a-tete bw Edward and Jacob w regards to Bella. You can really see how much BOTH of them love her.

    Sighhhhhhssss……….

I love the ending of Breaking Dawn. I don’t care what those haters say; it’s still a great, worthwhile read. And I LOVELOVELOVELOVELOVE that part from New Moon (my fave out of the 4):

‘Before you, my life was like a moonless night…’ and on and on. See Ashley’s post. Sighhhhhhssss. EDWARD!!! WHY DO YOU NOT EXIST?!?!?!

Great article. Your number four is my number one because that is what I wanted more than anything, Bella as a vampire, forever connected to Edward. I really couldn’t narrow it to ten, however, I have to add one of my favorites. It’s in New Moon, when Bella is rushing to save Edward and sees him in the distance. “…and the last seven months meant nothing, and his words in the forrest meant nothing, and it did not matter if he did not want me, I would never want anything but him no matter how long I lived.”

not only does it prove that the twilight series is without any merit, but it certainly puts a dent in your reputation.

I totally agree that those moments should be up there. All though I think Edward and Bella’s first honeymoon night should be up there. lol. Or maybe when Bella finds out she’s pregnent. But omg!!

And OMG!!! I totally agree with all of you, and LOVE the support for Breaking Dawn!!! I’m so sick of hearing all the negative input when the book was AMAZING!!!!! I absolutely loved it and wouldn’t change a thing about it!!! 😀

There should definitely be some more scenes from New Moon. When Bella races through the plaza to stop Edward, and the night after they come home from Italy are some of my favorites.

And also, my favorite moment in Breaking Dawn was when Edward took Bella hunting for the first time..or even when she beat Emmett at arm wrestling. I also loved when Rosalie gave Jacob some food in a doggy dish with “Fido” written on it in Breaking Dawn. And all the blonde jokes Jake was throwing at her. hahaha. Okay, I’m just rambling now. But man, I love that book.

omg, love these all but I seriously couldn’t narrow it down to ten. I think the meadow scene and the time when Edward takes Bella out to dinner after saving her the second time in Port Angelos, would make #1, for me atleast.

I think Breaking Dawn isn’t as bad as people keep saying, in fact the honeymoon moments were quite sweet. And the wedding, oh my Edward Anthony Masen Cullen! LOL. Anyway, love, love, love the books. Kiss, kiss!

Oh those are so sweet! But what about:

“Option three: Edward loved me. The bond forged between us was not one that could be broken by absence, distance, or time. And no matter how much more special or beautiful or brilliant or perfect than me he might be, he was as irreversibly altered as I was. As I would always belong to him, so he would always be mine.” New Moon, pg 527

Sigh. So beautiful. And for some reason this always makes me cry.

“We had forever. And Nessie was going to be fine and healthy and strong. Like the half-human Nahuel, in a hundred and fifty years she would still be young. And we would all be together. Happiness expanded like and explosion inside me–so extreme, so violent that I wasn’t sure I’d survive it.

“Forever,” Edward echoed in my ear. I couldn’t speak anymore. I lifted my head and kissed him with a passion that might possibly set the forest on fire.
I wouldn’t have noticed.” Breaking Dawn pg. 741

Oooo I’m tearing up. So beautiful.

Loved the list. And it’s true, there are too many great moments to truly narrow down a top ten, but those listed are by far are some of the best writing out there!

I enjoyed Breaking Dawn. No one died ( but that twit, Irina), which I loved. A battle, like the one at the end of Eclipse, between them and the Volturi would have been fabulous, however, I’m okay with the ending. It was all just a little too tidy for my taste.

Can’t wait for the film, which is a first!

    u missed out

I started reading Twilight before they showed previews for the movie, so I hurried and finished before it actually came out. I have a rather vivid imagination and the movie made me laugh cuz it was nothing like the book and it seemed so very simple and there really wasn’t much to it. Like, why were they so in love? If I hadn’t read the book I probably would have been confused. And New Moon, good book too but I thought it was kinda boring, it was all about Bella being obsessed with Edward and all that stuff, it moved kinda slow. A lot about holding her chest and stuff, blah. Now Eclipse, that was SCANDALES!! All kinds of twists and turns! Seriously had me on the edge of my seat most of the time. I couldn’t put it down. My boyfriend thought I was crazy with the gasping and the,”NO WAY!” stuff. And then Breaking Dawn, idk what was going through my mind with that one. They got married, and I was a little sad cuz I thought it would be cool if she picked Jacob, but he imprinted so its all good now. I guess it never would of worked out right anyways. The whole first and second book in Breaking Dawn was all weird to me, I was bewildered. It all turned out ok, I cried a little during the part where they thought the fight was going to start and they all said there goodbyes. I was a little scared, but knew Alice had something up her sleeve. I’m kinda dreading watching the rest of the movies, they will be nothing like the books and thats disappointing. Even the trailer for New Moon shows that. Sad.
Anywho, sorry for the longness. Everyone is entitled to there own opinions about things and I think its stupid when people say others are wrong about what they feel and like. Well those people are wrong for saying that, you may feel that way but whatever, we see from your point of view but look at things differently. That’s all.
