There can be no comparison between “The Hunger Games” and “The Twilight Saga” because (and I want to make this abundantly clear) "The Hunger Games” is actually -- good.

A summary (Because if we literally covered every possible way in which “The Hunger Games” is better than ‘Twilight’ we’d be writing a book, not an article, and it would still be better written than ‘Twilight’)

Ever since Suzanne Collins’s “The Hunger Games” trilogy arrived on the young adult literature scene, it has been compared to “The Twilight Saga” by Stephenie Meyer. Now that “The Hunger Games” movie is coming out, more and more we’ll be hearing that it is “the next ‘Twilight.’” Not only is this comparison completely illogical and bizarre, but it’s offensive. To compare “The Hunger Games” to “The Twilight Saga” is to suggest that they are at least equal in quality, which is of course preposterous.

We compare apples to oranges. We do not compare apples to moldy, putrefying globs of vegetable matter that hate Christmas and kill puppies for fun. Thus, there can be no comparison between “The Hunger Games” and “The Twilight Saga” because (and I want to make this abundantly clear) “The Hunger Games” is actually – good.

There are those who believe that “Twilight” is a good book. They’re wrong.

Those who believe that the movies based on the “Twilight” books are good are also wrong. And those who believe that there are books based on the “Twilight” movies are wrongest of all, on a number of levels.

We can allow for different literary and film taste. After all, there’s something for everyone, and there must be someone out there (some out-of-their-mind person) for whom “The Twilight Saga” is the be-all and end-all of literary greatness (they’re wrong, of course, but let’s humor them for the sake of discourse). Their high opinion of “Twilight” is valid as far as opinions are concerned, and so we shouldn’t look down on someone simply for their love of “Twilight” (though we do).

No, Twihards are welcome to love “Twilight”. But the moment they imply that the affront to the English language and feminist sensibilities that is their sparkly glorified abusive relationship story is equal to “The Hunger Games”, those of us with fully functioning brains must take a stand.

Ladies, gentlemen, and Twihards: “The Hunger Games” is in no uncertain terms way better than “Twilight” and I’ll tell you why.

For one thing, “The Hunger Games” has a plot. If we’re just focusing on the first book in either series, on one side of the arena we have a complex coming-of-age story with a heroine who defies both authority and gender roles in the name of survival and building a better world, which deals with adult themes of life-and-death magnitude. On the other side we have a story about the importance of having a cute boyfriend, to paraphrase Stephen King.

Nothing happens in “Twilight.” We spend the first three quarters of the book marveling over Bella’s hackneyed descriptions of Edward’s hunky marble ass and watching her brush her teeth. Then Stephenie Meyer remembers that books are supposed to involve some kind of conflict, so she throws in a bunch of meany-pants vampires who conveniently want to suck our heroine’s (and I use that word lightly) heart out through her neck. It’s lazy writing, and it means that about 70% of “Twilight” could’ve benefitted from the backspace key.

By contrast, a whole helluva lot happens in “The Hunger Games.” We begin the story by getting introduced to our heroine and her world. Collins sets up clear rules and systems for Katniss’s society right away, and then the rest of the plot revolves around how Katniss alternately bends to those rules, or learns to break them. There are characters outside of the love triangle who are fully-realized and important to both Katniss and the plot. And speaking of the love triangle: It exists, but is not the most important thing in “The Hunger Games”.

The most noticeable difference between “Twilight” and “The Hunger Games” is the main character. For one thing, “The Hunger Games” has one. Don’t ask me why Stephenie Meyer thought it was cool to have a limp noodle narrate her magnum opus. I’m still trying to figure out why she thought it was ok to cast all the people of color in “Twilight” as savage beasts (the appalling cultural appropriation rampant in “Twilight” is for another article).

Nothing happens in “Twilight.” We spend the first three quarters of the book marveling over Bella’s hackneyed descriptions of Edward’s hunky marble ass and watching her brush her teeth.

Bella Swan is both a blank slate and a completely negative role model. Meyer has been quoted as saying that she deliberately wrote Bella with very little character description so the reader could more easily slip into her skin and experience the story as Bella. For one thing: That’s a bullshit excuse for lazy writing. For another: Writing a character who spends every waking moment criticizing herself, thinking poorly of herself, and submitting to the wills of other (male) characters as a vehicle for the imaginations of impressionable teenage girls is utterly reprehensible. If I had a teenage daughter who was at all unsure of herself, I would be terrified to expose her to the ideas of self-loathing that are glorified in “Twilight.”

Not only does Bella have literally nothing good to say about herself, but she is perfectly willing to let others walk all over her, or to walk all over others. She has one of two reactions to everyone around her: 1) “I worship the ground you walk on and will endure physical pain and emotional degradation if you so wish,” or 2) “I can’t be bothered to acknowledge you exist or care about your petty feelings, Charlie, Jessica, Mike, Angela, Eric, or all of my other so-called ‘friends.’”

Katniss, on the other hand, is a fully-realized and complex character. She has mommy issues. She was raised in abject poverty. She makes decisions fueled alternately by a calculating ruthlessness and desperate emotional instinct. Katniss is a person in a way that Bella could never be because Katniss is not a blank slate, and yet she is still remarkably easy for readers both male and female to relate to. Katniss has a strong sense of self that allows her both to admit that she is in the Hunger Games to survive, and to admit that she is confused and conflicted about her feelings for Peeta and Gale. She is strong in her moments of weakness. She is a contradictory character… much like real people in the real world.

Then there’s the romance. Again, “Twilight” is a story marketed to teenage girls. And speaking as a former teenage girl, I know what balls of unpredictable hormones and self-consciousness they can be. The Prince Charming romance is tried and true, but in “Twilight” it takes a darker twist.

Bella’s relationship with Edward is horrifying. He sneaks into her room at night to watch her sleep. He stalks her. He dictates who she can spend time with and when. He controls her comings and goings. He admits to wanting to kill her. He withholds physical intimacy and makes her feel guilty for having perfectly normal feelings of attraction. When they consummate their relationship he leaves her black and blue from head to toe, and by that time she’s so indoctrinated into the Cult of Edward that she basically tells him “Oh no, dear. It’s perfectly fine that you severely injured me during my first sexual encounter. I completely forgive you for not being able to control yourself and avoid hurting me. It’s perfectly understandable”

Parents of teenage girls: This is not a healthy relationship. This is not a relationship you want your daughters fantasizing about. This is not the relationship you want your daughters to find normal when they’re grown up and at the mercy of real life Edwards who will terrorize and abuse them. Stephenie Meyer is blatantly irresponsible by glorifying an abusive relationship to teenagers.

To be fair, Katniss’s relationships with Peeta and Gale are by no means healthy, but they are at least semi-normal. And Katniss’s romance with Peeta in particular subverts gender roles in a way that is both empowering to young people reading the books and utterly romantic.

While Katniss is a hunter with deadly skills in archery and snaring (a traditionally masculine role), Peeta is a baker and an artist (traditionally more feminine skills) and a gifted speaker. Yet they complement each other. Peeta’s talents don’t make him a weaker person than Katniss, or make him obsolete to the woman who can both feed and defend herself. On the contrary: Peeta’s artistic skills allowed him to camouflage and save himself in “The Hunger Games” until Katniss could find him. They also give him a vehicle for expressing his emotions that make him in ways stronger than Katniss. His eloquence proved invaluable in uniting the districts during their victory tour, and his paintings of the arena expressed quite vividly the experiences that Katniss found it difficult to share with Gale and her family.

So in short, Katniss and Peeta are equally matched, though their strengths lie in different areas. When one treats the other poorly, it is not glorified by Suzanne Collins. When Katniss drugs Peeta so she can go to the cornucopia without him, Peeta feels betrayed and has difficulty forgiving her. As he should. Katniss, like Edward, believed that she was violating her partner’s rights to keep him safe, but unlike Bella (who simply rolls over and accepts Edward’s decrees on her behalf), Peeta does not simply excuse Katniss’s violation.

Beyond the plot, the main character, and the romance, there is one other fundamental level on which “The Hunger Games” kicks “Twilight”’s ass. Suzanne Collins can write. I’m not sure what Stephenie Meyer thought she was doing for four massive books, but it certainly wasn’t a credit to the English language or artistic expression.

It has been argued that Stephenie Meyer’s writing isn’t bad it’s just “her style.” In the words of Dana from the anti-“Twilight” blog Reasoning With Vampires: “Fine. Her style is tacky.” Good writing is not simply about being grammatically correct. It’s about knowing the rules of grammar and understanding when it’s effective to break them. Both Collins and Meyer include sentence fragments in their writing, but the difference is that Collins’s use of fragments is meant to heighten the tension of exciting scenes and spur the action forward. Meyer’s sentence fragments simply indicate that she doesn’t know what she’s doing.

Meyer’s syntax choices are baffling, her spelling is laughable (I don’t know about you, but if I had a “moat” of dust stuck in my eye I’d be screaming in pain), and her over-use of the thesaurus makes for humorously purple prose (Edward’s “liquid topaz” eyes were just a little too much for me, but I guess when every other sentence is used to describe the physical perfection of Sparkle Boy, one has to change it up somehow). The only thing natural about Meyer’s writing is that it reads like a tenth grader’s creative writing assignment.

But Meyer is not a tenth grader writing a story for school. She’s a professionally published author writing for the public market and somebody somewhere along the line should’ve forced her to revise. As a publishing professional, I’m a little embarrassed on behalf of Little,Brown’s editorial department. Just because the romance of Bella and Edward sprang fully-formed from Meyer’s dreaming mind does not mean that that is the best possible way it could have been written. Quite the opposite in fact, since many professional authors will tell you that shoddy first drafts are a necessary step in the writing process.

Collins writes for the same young adult audience that Meyer writes for. Both “The Hunger Games” and “Twilight” are narrated by teenage girls. And yet Katniss’s narration manages to remain fresh, interesting, and intelligent throughout three books. No one ever excuses the prose in “The Hunger Games” because “Well, the narrator is a teenage girl and that’s just how they think/speak/write,” and yet defenders of “Twilight” use that excuse all the time. It is possible to write in the voice of a teenager without writing like a teenager. Collins does this beautifully, even while including sentence fragments and unorthodox syntax.

“The Hunger Games” comes out in theaters on Friday, and no doubt the “Twilight” comparisons will go into full force then. “Will ‘The Hunger Games’ dethrone ‘Twilight’ as the reigning teen craze?” the entertainment writers will ask, just as they did of “Twilight” “dethroning” “Harry Potter” (another ill-fitting comparison).

The main character is a young woman and the story contains a love triangle, but the similarities end there. While there are probably some fans who enjoy both, the two stories aren’t even in the same ballpark. In fact, “The Hunger Games” is way out of “Twilight’s” league.

Keeping it real

More than anything, Chaske Spencer just wants to keep it real.

This may seem strange coming from the man who just wrapped up a multi-film stint in the massively successful fantasy-laden Twilight series, but a brief conversation with him makes this all too clear.

Take, for example, his perspective on his Twilight character, werewolf pack leader Sam Uley. While he appreciates many things about his animalistic alter-ego, not the least of which are his CGI antics played out on the big screen – “I never thought I would see myself jump off a cliff. I mean it was amazing!” he says – what he most hopes fans will take away from the most recent installments is that which makes the character most relatable – most human.

“What I got from talking to the kids, the fans of Twilight, is that a lot of them just hated Sam. A lot of them did not like Sam,” he recalls with a laugh. “So what I want to do is make him more human, more a character that you can relate to. In the Breaking Dawn film you get this sense that, in the script, he’s out to just kill Renesmee and he hates Bella, but that’s not the case. It’s just that it’s a job that he has to do.”

Similarly, Spencer notes, it’s the human element of filmmaking that has been the most rewarding through his work on the Twilight series and beyond. His bonds with cast and crew from the Twilight films have stayed strong, he assures: his fellow wolves are “like my brothers now,” he says, “and then you have Julia [Jones] and Tinsel [Korey, both costars] who are like my sisters.” It’s like “joining the circus,” he explains. “That’s basically what a film crew is. You join the circus, you all get tight, you’re like a family for a month or two, and then – boom. Maybe you’ll stay in touch, maybe you’ll see them again, maybe you won’t, you know?”

He emphasizes that this is one aspect of filmmaking that continues to draw him in – “Not just working on a character or just being an actor but the stuff behind the scenes.” It’s an affinity for the world behind the camera, bolstered by his recent experience in independent films Winter in the Blood and Desert Cathedral, that has clearly shaped his philosophy on his work and his art. An independent film, he says, is “where the artist comes into work”.

To hear him explain it, it’s answering a call to artistic integrity. He easily ticks off the names of examples and influences, a list that crosses genres and all levels of celebrity. “I grew up watching Johnny Depp,” he recalls, “and like a lot of young actors, I wanted to be Johnny Depp – and we can’t. But he inspires us to stick to artistic credit.” Depp, he notes, had a penchant for turning down big-budget roles in favor of independents, “and he got massive street cred for it.”

He’s quick to cite famous crossover acts like Nirvana and Pearl Jam as well. “I always like bands who stretch, who go further,” he says. “You could be working a 9 to 5 job, but you’re trying to find the easiest way to make a living doing what you love, and of course you’re not going to say no to those paychecks.” But, he says, these bands were able to avoid earning the dreaded “sellout” label. Of Pearl Jam, he notes, “They used the tools that they had, and they just gave themselves some self-respect, and they stuck to their guns, and, obviously, they’re a huge group. They turned down Ticketmaster, and fought the good fight, and they’re still rockin’ and rollin’, they’re still touring.”

So what does this mean for Chaske Spencer, an actor moving into 2012 with a slew of major-budget films under his belt and many of these treasured independent efforts in the works? “I enjoy work on a franchise too,” he stresses. “[You] get a good paycheck, work on a big budget. But then you go back and do an independent movie and you can make up for I guess, ah, whoring yourself out,” he laughs.

Make no mistake: he’s grateful for the opportunities that Twilight’s success has given him – especially the freedom to gravitate toward those projects that allow him to emulate those he so admires. “You’ll never hear me talk bad about ‘Twilight!’”, he assures with a laugh. “Yeah, it’s given me a life.”

Apparently, nothing she needs to worry about.

The couple is separated as Kristen Stewart films for ”Snow White and the Huntsman“ in London, but, despite rumors, her vampire beau appears to be remaining faithful.

On Friday, pictures surfaced of Robert Pattinson leaving a bistro, La Poubelle, in Los Angeles with Sarah Roemer, which led, inevitably, to a flurry of concerned fans. The truth is, sometimes people in relationships are around the opposite sex, and it doesn’t necessarily mean they’re cheating. And, reportedly, the two were hanging out within a group. A source present at the club said “It was all very innocent. There were no signs that he was cheating on Kristen with Sarah or that anything romantic was going on”.

So, fans of the couple need not concern themselves with the fate of their relationship — yet.

Story includes two FULL MOVIE embeds

Tasked by Blast Magazine with assembling a top ten vampire movie list that does not include any of the Twilight films, my first thought was: there’s no way any of the Twilight movies should be on a top ten vampire movie list to begin with.

I confess I only saw the first “Twilight” (on DVD) and didn’t think much of it. From the outset it seemed quite silly that Bella had to go live with her father because her mother hooked up with a minor league baseball player. Couldn’t they come up with something better? I don’t care if it was in the book, either, because it still was an odd choice. And then Bella gets to a rural, logging community in Washington, but the high school seems as diverse as Cambridge and all the kids there appear to have sprung from an Old Navy ad. And why would vampires be going to high school anyway?

OK, I could go on. Suffice it to say, I wouldn’t have included the Twilight movies in my top ten vampire film list even if Blast had not placed that restriction upon me. Below are my top ten. Feel free to tell me I don’t know this genre or I should have included “A Vampire in Brooklyn” with Eddie Murphy. Just don’t come looking for me during daylight.

10. “Vampyr” (1932)

I’m being a little film schoolish with this choice, but Carl Dreyer simply cannot be left off this list. More well known for the silent classic The Passion of Joan of Arc, Vampyr is a brooding work of light and shadow that typifies Scandanavian filmmaking. Perhaps more notable for its form rather than content, homage must be due in the vampire genre to one of cinema’s greatest directors.

9. “Horror of Dracula” (1958)

This one could be filed under “lifetime achievement,” but if you are talking horror and then, more specifically, if you are talking vampires then any top ten list has to include Christopher Lee. The man played Dracula six times! Horror of Dracula is reputedly the best of his vampire movies (many of them being quite campy). And even if that’s wrong, this movie also stars Peter Cushing. What does that mean? Both Lee and Cushing would later go on to be featured in Star Wars movies.

8. “Salem’s Lot” (1979)

This was a made for TV movie and based on the Stephen King novel of the same name. Others may not rank it that high, but there’s one scene that I can never forget from this movie. It’s when a man is asleep in a jail cell and a fog rolls in. He wakes to be confronted by ‘the master.’ He is paralyzed with fear as the master takes him, and it’s truly a horrifying scene. When Stephen King inspires any movie one has to take note.

7. TIE: “Vampire Hunter D” (1985) and “Blade” (1998)

Vampire Hunter D is 1980s Japanese animation. Blade is late 1990s when Wesley Snipes was one of the hottest action stars around. Both spawned sequels, and I’m not super huge into either series, but they have been influential in the genre and both feature a half-man, half-vampire warrior taking it to other undead. I’m cheating a bit with this double whammy, but some monsters don’t play by the rules.

6. “Fright Night” (1985)

Let’s introduce a little levity to this list. A teenage boy must enlist the help of a washed up minor TV celebrity to battle a vampire in his neighborhood. Yeah, it’s ridiculous but that’s what makes it fun and memorable. It also tackles the interesting theme of ‘belief.’ The TV host doesn’t believe in monsters at the outset, so he is unable to fight the vampire, but by the end he has been “converted” and can now wage war against evil.

5. “Interview with the Vampire” (1984)

A cast full of pretty boys, erotic undertones, and directed by Neil Jordan—not to mention adapted from an Anne Rice novel. What could be better? What makes this interesting is the way the genres are cross-pollinated. It’s half vampire story and half memoir or journalistic style. It’s an odd combination but stretched the genre in a way that works and must get inclusion on this list.

4. “The Lost Boys” (1987)

It’s a good movie, but if there’s any vampire film that captured the spirit of its age this is it. Packed with teen heartthrobs, only the inclusion of Kirk Cameron could have cemented this film as its own issue of Tiger Beat magazine. The Lost Boys is 1980s to its core. Big hair, a fatherless home, and an MTV look and feel, this movie is a fun ride and well written. It’s style and substance unify to make it a top 10 lister for sure.

3. “Dracula” (1931)

There probably is no better Count Dracula than that played by Bela Lugosi. Directed by Tod Browning, who was a master of the horror genre before there were academics to break down genre filmmaking, Dracula might even be able to rise beyond on its genre trappings to be considered among the finest of American films. This is American studio filmmaking at the dawn of its power and brilliance.

2. “Let the Right One In” (2008)

Here is a good contrast to Twilight in terms of everything that a teen vampire movie should be. This Swedish film is not about product placement or TMZ segments and has no head-slapping moments of “should I suspend my disbelief any further?” Stylistically beautiful with characters that are compelling and moving, Let the Right One In is gruesome the way serious vampire films should be and doesn’t end at the senior prom. The conclusion of this movie is one of the creepiest sequences you will ever see on celluloid.

1. “Nosferatu” (1922)

If Bram Stoker started it all with his novel, then Nosferatu, directed by the German master F.W. Murnau, is the cinematic equivalent. There may have been a few other vampire movies before it, but this silent classic not only is the epitome of German Expressionism, but is also, simply, a great vampire movie. I last saw this a few years ago at the Williamstown Film Festival where a live orchestra provided the music. This movie does not date, and if it’s not among your top 10 vampire movies I’ll be visiting you in the dead of night!

Twilight’s fourth movie, Breaking Dawn Part 1, led the Friday box office once again, with $16.9 million. According to Reuters, this trend means the film will potentially earn $61 million by the end of Thanksgiving weekend. Which leads to the question, what could this $61 million otherwise go to?

Approximately

122,000 flights.

8,714,285 $7 meals.

1,946 priuses.

5,545,454 pairs of novelty vampire fangs.

1,220 semesters of my college tuition.

In other news, The Muppets came in with $12.3 million, and Hugo and Arthur Christmas with $4.5 million each.

1 out of 4 stars

Long story short: if you liked all the other “Twilight” movies then you will probably like this one. If you never liked it before, this movie isn’t going to change your views. Twihards beware: I am one of the latter. I have seen them all, and the only good movie in the entire series was probably the second one. Oh…and I’ll come clean and announce that if I’m going to be on any team then I’m on team Jacob. All the scenes without Edward were the very best.

Plot time: if you read the books there are no surprises. Stefanie Meyers must have kept director Bill Condon on a short leash. There was no deviation from the written word. I almost feel like I could read the book side-by-side with the movie dialogue. Bella Swann (Kristen Stewart) is planning for her wedding with vampire Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson). Sparks are heated between the vampires and the werewolves over whether turning Bella into a vampire breaks the ancient treaty of doing no harm to humans. But it’s not happening yet. Edward and Bella decide to have a honeymoon before the big change.

The vampire allegory for a pure virginal marriage comes through when the happy couple completely ignore birth control and end up with an “uh oh.” Bella becomes pregnant with vampire spawn and we are faced with another allegory for the debate for life vs. choice. Edward wants the baby gone before it can kill Bella, but Bella wants the baby to live even if she dies bringing it into the world. This sparks a civil war in the werewolf tribe. The current leader sees the baby as a threat to their pack. Now Jacob has to make the choice to stay with his kind or renege to save Bella.

The story is enough to make you cringe and/or laugh, but it’s the film style that really takes “Breaking Dawn” over the top. There were very few special effects. When there were, they were laughably out of place. A fuzzy dream sequence here, angry red vision there. If they appeared more often then they wouldn’t seem like such afterthoughts being thrown between the frames. The choice of music had the same affect. Whose idea was it to play hippie stoner music for the love montage scenes?

Directed by: Bill Condon
Written by: Melissa Rosenberg (screenplay), Stephenie Meyer (novel)
Starring: Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner
Rated: PG-13

I think Condon tried his best, but teenage monster love is a little outside his purview. This is the guy who did “Dream Girls” and wrote in “Chicago.” I would be interested in seeing if turning “Twilight” into a sing-along would make it any better. Condon has also done a lot of movies I’ve never even heard of, which is why probably wanted to tack his name onto a huge movie franchise even if it’s bad. The most stylistically beautiful scene in the whole movie was a red and white wedding nightmare Bella had. It was visually stunning and it stands out. I could see musical theatre written all over it. I wouldn’t have been surprised if they burst into song about the dangers and delights of being married to a vampire. Doesn’t that sound funny?

This was the Condon’s chance to take this movie to the next level and he scaled it back. Remember how much fun it was counting how many times Jacob took off his shirt in the last movie? Well he only took his shirt off once! The rest of the werewolves were fully clothed the entire time too. If I’m going to sit through 120 minutes of a “Twilight” movie, I at least expect some eye candy. But no…this was a purity driven film where the only action we got was the haphazard sex scenes that Pattinson clearly didn’t get into. I’m telling you the chemistry is gone.

I know the Twihards out there are going to hate me for hating on this, but I tell you now that this is the worst movie of the four so far. Go see it for yourself, but remember you won’t ever get those two hours back.

Some spoilers included!

At long last, the finale of the “Twilight” franchise has finally arrived onto the big screen. This time, Bill Condon (Dreamgirls in 2006) takes the hot seat of as director.

From a fangirl standpoint, this is the moment that Twilight fans have been waiting for: Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart) and Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson) get married, after a series of setbacks and courtships. The set design of the wedding made it a particularly romantic vibe with white flowers draping from trees and just around the garden, as well as some familiar faces; the friends and family of the bride and groom. Jacob Black (Taylor Lautner) whom we see after the wedding is a happy friend for both Bella and Edward, until Bella tells him that she will remain a human when she goes on a honeymoon with Edward. Dismayed, Jacob tries to stop Bella from going with Edward as he presumes that her now husband could potentially kill her. Edward and Bella head to Rio De Janeiro, anyway, for their honeymoon.

In the two-hour duration of the film, not a lot happens. What is covered in this film is actually quite limited compared to the previous films where the movie features plenty of scenes that took place in a variety of locations. In Breaking Dawn Part 1, after Rio De Janeiro, most scenes just took place in the Cullens’ house and the forest where the werewolves can be found.

The film is all about Edward and Bella worrying about their future together as husband and wife, as the werewolves go against Bella and Jacob tries to protect his friend.

Bella eventually gets pregnant with a half vampire, half human baby. Tension arises between Edward and Jacob — again.

The bigger Bella’s womb grows, the sicker she becomes. The acting between Stewart and the rest of the Cullens can be somewhat comedic at times, and I thought that Condon executed that well. For example, the speeches at the weddings given by the bride and groom’s family friends, as well as Bella coming up with names for their future child were pretty funny scenes.

Unlike in the previous Twilight films where the werewolves’ scenes and actions were fast and furious and strongly captured in the screen, Breaking Dawn Part 1 does not really give that same effect. The werewolves were not the main focus of the film and didn’t have a ton of screen time.

The last scene in the movie shows Bella’s eyes turning red, and it brings a lot of mixed messages for the audience. The director certainly did an awesome job on this, as he keeps the viewers guessing how this will turn out in the next film.

When all is said and done, fans that have supported “The Twilight Saga” from the books to the movies will be in for a treat. As Taylor Lautner has said in a promotional interview, “if you read Breaking Dawn, you’ll most likely see it come to life on this film!”

Part one of Breaking Dawn is opening in theaters this Friday, and it highlights the series of events that lead to Bella’s inevitable transformation into a vampire. But, according to Kristen Stewart, the change is not all that glamorous.

Stewart, who has played the protagonist, Bella, in all of the film adaptations, complained about the amber-colored contacts the actors playing vampires are required to wear. She said “That is one thing I can’t wait to say goodbye to. They just kill you.”

The actress expressed her satisfaction with her character finally becoming a vampire, saying “The whole vampire thing – I wasn’t excited to be white and all that. I was really more excited to finally get her there because she wants it so bad.”

The three stars of “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn,” coming out in theaters nationwide on November 18, appeared in front of fans with Jimmy Kimmel, the emcee of the event, and “Twilight” author Stephenie Meyer on November Thursday outside the famous Grauman’s Chinese Theater.

After waving to the fans craning their necks to catch a glimpse of Lautner’s muscles and Stewart and Pattinson’s relationship, the stars pressed their handprints into blocks of cement. As the ceremony came to an end, the Los Angeles Times quoted Stewart saying, “I’ve never been so enamored by this business, Hollywood. … I think this is the coolest thing I’ve ever done in my life.”

The leading actors and author of the franchise took this opportunity to thank their fans for their growing support throughout the phenomenon. After today, fans can walk through the streets of Hollywood to find the hardened handprints and footprints of their idols.

What Kristen shared with Glamour:

Kristen Stewart and Stephenie Meyer on watching Breaking Dawn with costar Taylor Lautner:

Stewart: “It’s fun to watch with him because we actually sit and watch it. Me and Taylor are actual Twilight fans, so we can sit there and be totally into it! Whereas I sit there with Rob…he likes it, but he has just such a different energy.”

Meyer: “Oh, Rob and Taylor have completely different energy! Watching it with Taylor, you feel afraid that you’ll get ice down the back of your neck or a grape in your face.”
Stewart: “Totally.”

Kristen’s relationship advice:

“Hmm…good relationship advice for me tends to be being honest and knowing yourself. Don’t be an asshole. That’s my advice. Don’t be mean. Don’t take sh*t. Don’t settle.”

What Kristen is Wearing:

Photographed by Matthias Vriens-McGrath in Culver City, California, Kristen appears on Glamour’s November cover wearing a striped Bottega Veneta top, Current/Elliott jeans and white gold and diamond necklaces by Martin Katz and Jordan Alexander at Fragments. And from her inside spread, Kristen wears a Sosume white T-shirt, Peter Som lace shorts and Alexander Wang shoes and she wears a lace dress by Stella McCartney, a De Beers white gold and diamond bracelet and Ash boots.

Pattinson has already shown some of his musical talent. He has two songs on the original “Twilight” soundtrack including “Never Think” (co-written with Sam Bradley) and “Let Me Sign.”

His music is not pop, but rather has a more guitar-based and indie sound. Pattinson plays the guitar, but is working on learning to play the piano and horns as well.

He plans to work on the album during his time off before returning to promote “Breaking Dawn.”

The movie is set to be released six weeks later on November 18.

A recent Fandango survey showed that moviegoers consider “Breaking Dawn, Part 1” the most anticipated movie of the fall.

On September 13, main character Bella Swan’s birthday, Fandango sent online wedding invitations to “Twilight” fans using Paperless Post. The invitation for Isabella Marie Swan and Edward Anthony Masen Cullen’s wedding was in anticipation for the event that will happen during the film.

Fans are also looking forward to seeing the honeymoon and Bella’s childbirth.

Brace yourselves paranormal book and movie lovers. A new film production is in the works that will have you talking for months.

Shayne Leighton’s old world fantasy novel “Of Light and Darkness: The Vampire’s Daughter” was released in e-book format by Decadent Publishing June 26. The book, which is the first of five, has already gained over 2,500 Facebook fans and the addiction of at least one Blast writer.

“Twilight” actor Michael Welch, “Make It or Break It” and “Bring It On: In It to Win It” actress Cassie Scerbo, Andrew Orozco, J LaRose, Camden Toy, “The Incubus” actor Frantisek Mach, Leighton and Candace Charee are teaming up to tell the story of Charlotte Ruzikova, a human who was abandoned as an infant in Prague, and Valek Ruzik, the vampire who took her in.

With war threatening their secret society and a dictator in power who is ready to wipe out the vampire race, the pair must struggle to discover what they mean to each other before everything they care about is lost forever.

“There are so many different elements of the fantasy world that we’ve recently seen in Hollywood that I love,” singer, former “Twilight” convention star and producer of the film Charee said. “But the ‘Of Light and Darkness’ story is different from anything I’ve seen.”

The series is not another “Twilight” look alike, Charee noted. “It’s a more adult story line; it’s more real.”

Unlike many of the fantasy films, TV shows and books that have bombarded the entertainment industry recently, “Of Light and Darkness” is not set in high school.

“It’s a true fantasy film,” Charee said excitedly. “There are vampires, elves, shape shifters and some really interesting creatures that Shayne actually just kind of made up. They all live in this magical occult that’s kind of separate from the rest of the world.”

The story transports audiences to a timeless mystical world of suspenseful heroics, power struggles, loyalty and heartrending love. It is set in modern-day Prague; however, the location and tone lend themselves to an “old school time frame.”

The movie will be true to the book’s ambiance. “We’re going for that same kind of old-time, mystical feel. We want it to be a fantasy but also very real in the sense that the audience will really connect with the characters and they won’t be like, ‘That could never happen.’” Adding to the film’s authenticity, Charee said they plan to film in Prague or Germany.

The main character Charlotte will be played by Leighton. “She wrote the role for herself and she’s a phenomenal actress,” Charee said.

Valek will be played by Mach, and Scerbo will play a witch named Sarah.

Welch will be Aiden, the antagonist of the film. “He’s a very dangerous, very dark character,” Charee explained. “It’s a great role for Michael to play.” Of course, it doesn’t hurt that the “Twilight” star looks great posing for the role.

While the blockbuster names included in the cast is reason enough for some fans to see the film, there are still those who remain hesitant, worrying that the movie will “ruin” the book. However, Charee assured Blast that the film is going to remain faithful to the original story.

“You always need to change things. You have to add, and you have to dramatize information on screen and punch up the dialogue,” Charee said “However, the fans who read the book will be pleasantly surprised and will see visually on screen what they imagined.”

The film is still in the stages of late development. The script is being polished and Charee will soon be heading to Los Angeles to meet with production companies, actors and directors.

Charee hopes to start preproduction by January. “But when we start filming is based on when everything is put together.”

Charee and Leighton formed Frame 7 Productions for the project. “The idea for Frame 7 is to focus on book to movie translation types of productions,” Charee said. “There are so many great stories and ideas out there, and we want to take really great novels and make them into successful films.”

Part of making a film a success is getting people to talk about it. The cast and crew of “Of Light and Darkness” have been working hard to build a fan base from the ground up using social media tools such as Facebook, Twitter and MySpace.

“There are not many new projects with as many avid fans as we have,” Charee said. “They love the actors and the book and the excitement of what we’re doing.”

Part of the amazing marketing strategy for Of Light and Darkness includes a poster design, featuring a shirtless Welch, that has already been released.

“Most movies don’t have posters in the predevelopment,” Charee laughed. “But that’s what we’re doing, we’re creating that excitement and fan base now. And of course it doesn’t hurt if you have a hot guy to use.”

“Twilight” star Taylor Lautner is going to be an action star in his up-coming film “Abduction.”

In the movie, Lautner is a high school student who ends up knowing that his parents aren’t actually his parents. And then, he’s on the run from some scary government agents who are attacking him before he finds out the truth about his origins.

It looks like we will get to see another side of the 19-year-old actor that we don’t see in the Twilight series, but don’t worry! In the film, there are romantic scenes that Lautner kisses co-star Lily Collins.

Lautner told MTV regarding his kissing scenes, “I mean, I think it depends. It depends on the person and your vibe together, ’cause sometimes it can totally be awkward. But if you’re in the moment and you are literally living these characters, you forget about everything else, then it’s fine. It was totally fine.”

MIAMI — A 15-year-old Marathon, Fla. girl has been charged with making a false police report and was released to her mother’s custody after authorities said she lied about bite marks on her body.

The girl, whose name was not released because of her age, allegedly told her mother she was attacked by a man while she was out jogging in order to cover up the fact that she engaged in “fantasy biting” with a 19-year-old man in August, the Associated Press reported.

The girl took part in the fantasy, because she said was inspired by the “Twilight” saga.

Police said that the girl was a big fan on the movies and books. She worried about what her mother would think after seeing bite marks on her neck, arms and back so she allegedly made up an attack.

Police couldn’t find any evidence of an attack, and the girl eventually confessed that she made it up.

No charges were filed against the 19-year-old.

Edward Cullen is no prince charming

According to everyone, vampires make excellent boyfriends.

Fans of “Twilight” believe that Edward Cullen is Prince Charming, and “True Blood” fans think Bill Compton is the perfect gentleman. This apparently gives all vampire boyfriends permission to get away with things that would land a normal human boyfriend in jail, and with good reason.

When you look at it objectively, vampires actually make terrible boyfriends. They’re pretty much the worst possible choice of boyfriend. Vampire boyfriends do things that, were they not supernatural, sexy creatures-of-the-night, would easily be defined as abuse, manipulation, assault, and even attempted murder.

Take away the “vampire” in “vampire boyfriend” and what you are left with is an abusive boyfriend and an unhealthy relationship crying out for an intervention and legal action.

Don’t believe me? Let’s look at the vampire boyfriends from four of the most popular modern vampire stories, and judge them by their actions, not by their hotness or the ludicrous devotion of their human girlfriends (read: battered women).

“The Vampire Diaries”

The romance of Stefan and Elena on “The Vampire Diaries” is possibly the tamest on this list. They snuggle and chat and care for the people around them. They interact normally when not faced with certain death. Neither one forces the other to go farther sexually or emotionally than they are both ready to go.

When Elena finds out that human blood will make the vegan-vamp Stefan stronger, Elena encourages him to drink a tiny drop of her own blood every day. In return, Stefan looks out for not only Elena, but her little brother Jeremy and her best friends Caroline and Bonnie as well. Aside from the whole creepy-old-man in the body of a teenager thing that all vampire boyfriends have, Stefan is actually a pretty good boyfriend to Elena. Except for two things:

1. His evil vampire brother is also in love with Elena and expresses his feelings by killing people.

2. His evil vampire ex-girlfriend is still in love with Stefan and expresses her feelings by killing people.

I’d say those are two very compelling reasons not to date said vampire. Despite Stefan’s best efforts, he proves time and again that he cannot protect Elena and the people she loves from the dangerous monsters in his life. Elena is kidnapped, beaten, intimidated, terrorized, and forced to watch as her friends and family are similarly abused… none of which would have happened if Stefan hadn’t waltzed into her life.

“Buffy the Vampire Slayer”

Despite being tough, smart, brave, and quick-witted, Buffy has horrible judgment when it comes to men. She dates not one, but two blood-sucking fiends.

Buffy’s first vampire boyfriend is Angel, who has a soul and does good deeds to make up for his murderous past. Their relationship is equal: She saves him from impending death, he saves her from impending death, and then they make out.

When things are going just swimmingly for Buffy and her bi-centennial BF, everything goes wrong. Buffy sleeps with Angel, which causes him to revert to the soulless monster his fangs proclaim him to be. He hurts her feelings, laughing at her pain when he tells her that their tryst meant nothing to him. Then he runs around killing and terrorizing the people she loves. He even sketches pictures of both Buffy and her mother while they are sleeping and leaves the sketches under Buffy’s pillow to scare her. Then he tries to destroy the world, forcing Buffy to take him down. But just before she kills him he regains his soul, conveniently losing his memory of his recent evil spree, which means that Buffy has no choice but to thrust a sword through the heart of the man she loves (sword + thrusting = pretty much what he deserves).

As if destroying her innocence once wasn’t enough, Angel returns the next season as the good guy Buffy fell in love with. To save him from poison, Buffy lets Angel drink her blood. He over-indulges, sucking her nearly dry and putting her in a coma (Read: DOMESTIC VIOLENCE). To add insult to injury, he skips town after prom without saying good-bye.

Because once wasn’t enough to teach Buffy her lesson about dating vampires, a few years later Buffy hops into the sack with Spike (Even though he spent the last 150 years murdering people willy-nilly when he and Buffy weren’t beating the ever-living crap out of each other). When Buffy realizes her relationship with Spike is incredibly self-destructive, she breaks it off. Spike responds by attempting to rape her.

And Buffy never dated a vampire again (we hope).

“True Blood”

There is a lot wrong with Bill and Sookie’s relationship on “True Blood.” Let’s start with the obvious: He drinks her blood during sex. This leaves her with obvious wounds after a roll in the hay, which she doesn’t seem to mind. To put things in perspective: If my boyfriend left me with a black eye and a bloody lip in the morning, I’d pack my bags and call the police.

But this is all well and good for Sookie until Bill, weakened by blood-loss, needs to drink Sookie’s blood to heal. He over-indulges, sucking her nearly dry and putting her in a coma (sound familiar?). Her friends Tara and Lafayette try to keep Bill away from Sookie while she’s recovering, and rightly so, since the psychological damage is only beginning.

In season three, Sookie’s best friend Tara is kidnapped and raped by a psychotic vampire… in the same mansion where Bill is hanging out. Bill knows Tara is there. She even begs him to help her. Yet Bill does nothing to save his girlfriend’s best friend from being tortured. When Tara escapes, she tells Sookie that Bill never lifted a finger to help her. Sookie responds by being all “Oh noes, super sorry! Let’s hug it out!” and then runs back into her dead lover’s arms. She never so much as slaps Bill on the wrist for letting her best friend get raped when he could have prevented it.

So what does Sookie get upset about? Oh yeah: The fact that Bill was stalking her before they even met and conned her into forming a relationship with him so he could deliver her to the Vampire Queen of Louisiana as a tasty snack (But it’s cool because he fell in love with her and changed his mind… what?). That’s right. That special night you lost your virginity to your vampire boyfriend? For him it was all an act.

“Twilight”

Where to begin?

Edward Cullen’s worst crime as a vampire boyfriend is that he has made millions, if not billions of women long for a boyfriend just like him. His relationship with Bella Swann is abusive on both an emotional and physical level. It is this abusive relationship that has been glorified to teenage girls —children— through “The Twilight Saga.” Let’s break it down:

He watches her sleep, both before and after they are dating. He sneaks into her bedroom at night and he watches her sleep. This is the universally accepted pastime of serial rapists and murderers (see Buffy, above).

He insults her and tells her to stay away from him during their very first interaction. This goes beyond playing hard-to-get. It’s just mean.

He disables the engine of her truck so she can’t go visit her friend Jacob, thus restricting her movement and interactions with people other than himself. Controlling much?

He withholds sex and makes Bella feel bad about herself for wanting to explore the physical side of their relationship.

He infantilizes her. Constantly. If she didn’t have daddy issues before getting into the relationship, she does now. Edward repeatedly tells her (sweetly) to shut up and (nicely) makes decisions for her. She’s a pat on the head and a cookie away from being his puppy dog.

Daddy issues, part 2: Edward seems almost amused and intrigued by the fact that Bella is an inexperienced teenage girl. If you didn’t have problems with the older man issue before, you should now.

He says things like “You are my life now” and “I can’t live without you.” That’s heavy stuff. You might think it’s sweet, but every time he says something like that it is encouraging Bella to feel responsible for Edward’s life and well-being. One classic sign of an abusive relationship: When your boyfriend threatens to kill himself if you ever leave him.

He forces her to go to the prom with him, even though she is uncomfortable about going. Disregarding your girlfriend’s comfort is always the gentlemanly thing to do.

After making Bella totally dependent on his sparkly vamp-charms, Edward tells her they’re over and skips town (see Buffy, above). He doesn’t call, and he doesn’t write. The hurt he inflicts on this hormonal, not-yet-fully-developed child is so intense that she repeatedly places herself in dangerous situations. She even jumps off a cliff… because of Edward.

He alienates her from her friends. After Edward shows up on the scene, everyone else pales in comparison, including her childhood friend Jacob Black, and especially her normal, well-adjusted friends at Forks High School. Bella resides in a social vacuum. But wait, she has the Cullens, who aren’t at all creepy and weird!

He makes ultimatums. He will only turn her into a vampire after she marries him. Granted, she’s a fool for wanting to be a vampire, but withholding rewards in exchange for your personal desires is no way to run a relationship.

The morning after Bella and Edward consummate their marriage, she wakes up covered in bruises. Edward is all, “Sorry babe. Did I hurt you with my awesome vampire strength while we were boning?” (see True Blood, above), to which Bella responds “Oh no dear, I don’t mind! It was perfect in every way!” He then goes off to brood and makes her feel guilty for not only enjoying the sex, but also forgiving him. Let me make this absolutely clear: Edward physically injures Bella during sex, and yet she is the one who is made to feel guilty. I believe this is chapter two in the textbook on domestic abuse.

He gets her pregnant. Yes, it takes two to tango, but do not tell me that in 100 years Edward has not learned how to use a condom.

Realizing her pregnancy is potentially life-threatening, Edward decides that the best thing for her would be to abort the baby. Without her input or consent.

Edward decides with Jacob that if Bella wants a baby, Jacob should be the father. Again, the two men make this decision about Bella’s body and sexual freedom without her input or consent.

He makes her a vampire. This ultimately cuts her off from her parents and friends, and prevents the possibility of her going to college anywhere but darkest Alaska. Cut out the “makes her a vampire part” and you have a boyfriend who has restricted her access to family and education forever.

So, is Edward Cullen Prince Charming, the perfect boyfriend, or Mr. Right? The evidence suggests otherwise.

Why do these vampire boyfriends get away with abuse and assault? Why is their behavior romanticized and excused by millions of fans? Removed from context, they are textbook abusers. In context, they are… still abusers. So why are vampire boyfriends so desirable? The world may never know.

Oh, and bring it on, Twihards.

Recently, Pattinson told MTV, “It’s always awkward, in a way, doing it with anybody, but at the same time … it really depends on how it’s staged and stuff. It’s like doing Twister.”

“Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn — Part 1″ comes out November 18.

“Twilight” star Kristen Stewart, 20, is on the February’s Vogue cover. And her hair is blonde. In the magazine, she talks about her upcoming Twilight movie and her celebrity status.

She told the magazine, “There’s no way to eloquently put this. I just can’t go to the mall. It bothers me that I can’t be outside very often. And also to not ever be ‘some girl’ again. Just being some chick at some place, that’s gone.”

And she talked about her role as Bella by saying, “(She’s) a character who is embedded in so many people’s psyches at this point. It’s starting to enter my head a lot more than it used to because it’s at the end and it’s come such a long way. I just want the fans of the book to be happy. I don’t necessarily care about anyone else.”

Jack Sparrow, Alice Cullen, Bella Swan, Joan Jett, Cherie Currie, The Joker, Harley Quinn, Sweeney Todd and William Turner — Hannah Hindi, 24, and Hillary Hindi, 20, of “The Hillywood Show” online have played them all and more in their online parodies that have arrested the humor of millions.

Hannah (Alice Cullen in the parodies) and Hilly (Bella Swan) are the official hosts of the Twilight Conventions. With Jacob Jost (Edward Cullen), Drew Lorentz (Jasper Hale), Shuan Flynn (Emmett Cullen), Brittany Turner (Rosalie Hale) and Joseph Lewellyn (Jacob Black), they tour the country in costumes and makeup so precise that it’s hard to believe it’s all done by a couple people.

It all started three years ago when Hilly entered AOL’s “Be a Red Star” contest and came in third out of nearly 100,000 video entries.

“People that voted for us became fans and they said, ‘Keep going; this is a really funny idea,’ and we’re still doing it today,” Hilly said.

The girls decided to continue on with “The Hillywood Show,” and 15 webisodes and several film parodies later, the show is an online hit.

About a year and a half ago, their Twilight parody was released; and the show’s ratings skyrocketed. The nine minute Twilight music video parody has over 4.275 million hits.

Both girls have a strong background in dance, and they use this talent as well as an abundance of creativity, wit and hard work to create amazingly entertaining parodies of blockbuster films.

“It (The Twilight parody) did everything for us,” Hilly said. “Before it we only had 50,000 views for our most hit video and that was online for about a year. But for Twilight – in a day it had over 100,000 views.

“It was definitely an eye-opener that we had to keep pursuing this,” Hilly exclaimed.

Less than a week after the Twilight parody went online, the girls were contacted by the Official Twilight Convention to present their video. “We didn’t know anything about Twilight,” Hannah laughed. “We kind of just saw the movie and made the video. And then we got to the convention, and people were going crazy seeing us in our wardrobe. It’s just so crazy how fast everything has happened.”

The highly anticipated Eclipse parody will be released in November. “That doesn’t mean November first though,” Hannah said with a laugh.

“We’re really looking forward to Eclipse,” Hilly said. “We are most excited about that one.”

The parody will be around ten minutes. A few teaser photos have been released.

While Hannah and Hilly were reluctant to give too many details on the parody, they did say this:

“It’s going to include the meadow scene, the tent scene and a lot of the other iconic scenes. It’ll be great,” Hilly revealed.

“And it’s a lot more parodying and funny this time, we cans say that too,” Hannah added.

All of their footage is shot with only one camera. The parodies and episodes are written, directed, edited and produced by the sisters. The parodies are funded primarily through donations and merchandise sales.

“Everything was low budget at first,” Hilly said. “Now the bar keeps getting raised with each and every parody because fans expect it to be just as good or better.”

“We think of an idea then we start scripting it in our heads,” Hannah explained. “We have these really cool ideas, but then we have to ask can we afford this? Is it in our budget, which is like nothing.” Both girls laughed.

The Twilight parody cost around $1,200 to produce, New Moon cost $10,000 and Eclipse will cost $20-25,000 by the time it’s done.

After scripting, make-up tests, casting, prop hunting and location scouting, it takes about two weeks to film a parody — if everything goes well. Then it’s editing time, which takes another two weeks.

The girls have also parodied Dark Knight and The Runaways.

“We try to hit all the things that teens are looking for,” Hilly said. “It’s kind of that whole music video, parodying, pop culture, movie characters mix. We do what people want to see, what’s really popular now.”

So what would they like to parody next?

“Alice in Wonderland,” they answered together.

But who would play Alice?

“We don’t know,” Hilly and Hannah answered together again.

“But we definitely want to do that parody,” Hilly added.

The large-scale dances, detailed wardrobe and makeup, smooth and artistic camera shots, humorous scripts and perfect casting are all done by these two sisters. But who does what?

Hannah shoots most of the footage and handles organization including getting props, schedules and actors together. Hilly does all of the video editing and graphics for the website and show. The girls have an equal hand in casting, makeup, costuming and scripting.

The pair was born and raised in Las Vegas, where all of their footage has been filmed except their New Moon parody, which was filmed in Forks, WA – the setting of the Twilight films and books.

“It was really, really cool because that was our first out of town shoot,” Hannah said.

Bella Swan has been Hilly’s favorite character to play so far. “Only because all the past roles I have done have been male characters; so being able to able to play a girl makes me feel good,” she laughed.

As for Hannah, her favorite character to play has been Mrs. Lovett from Sweeney Todd, who is featured in The Hillywood Show.

While the pair is currently focusing on their parodies, particularly Twilight, their web-series is where it all began and has a special place in their hearts.

“When the series started, it was very sketchy,” Hilly explained. “It was movie characters interacting with each other; but after we started branching out and started focusing on one main theme, we think our show is almost the Glee of movie characters.”

Captain Jack Sparrow is a star character of the show, as are a few other Johnny Depp characters.

“It actually just happened by accident,” Hilly said. “When we started off our show, we had a Jack Sparrow costume and Edward Scissorhands costume on hand; so we said let’s just use those costumes and then we said well I guess we’re going to use other Johnny Depp characters.”

“Our main objective is to get The Hillywood Show on television with a network,” Hilly said.

The pair wants to create a “Saturday Night Live” for teens.

“Really anything that would allow our show to be on television would be great,” Hilly said. “And if we can’t, in the future maybe actor, director, make-up artist – we’d love to be in the industry anyway possible.”

The duo is no stranger to performing. Hannah has been dancing for 17 years and teaching dance for 13 years, according to The Hillywood Show website. She has taken ballet, pointe, jazz, tap and hip-hop.

“I want to work with my sister,” Hannah said about her long-term personal goals. “I would love to be on a project with her. I love acting and I would totally do it, but if I were to choose – I love directing. I love cinematography, having the control to bring out my vision and what I see. And if director didn’t work out, a make-up artist for sure.”

Hilly has been dancing for 15 years. She has taken ballet, pointe, tap, jazz and hip-hop as well.

“I love acting!” Hilly said. “I love it, and I would like to be an actress. Behind the camera is fun, but I really enjoy being in front of it and playing a character.”

The sisters are busy touring and finishing up their Eclipse parody now. While their fame is growing and their talents are plentiful, they’ve managed to remain incredibly humble.

“Without the viewers and Twilight fans and Hillywood fans we would be no one, just hidden away amongst the chaos of YouTube,” Hilly said. “We’re incredibly lucky, and we can’t say thank you enough.”

You'll want to comment on this one

See also:
The Top 10 “Twilight” book series moments

The Twilight movies have possessed the interest and passion of millions, but what are the best moments? Well, first we have to ask if we’re watching the movies to get lost in a world of true love, transcending friendship and hunky mystical creatures; or to laugh at ridiculously awkward moments, contorted expressions and corny dialogue.

Answer: to get lost.

But what scenes do we love the most in the films? Riding motorcycles, playing baseball, fighting a new born army, kissing vampires, kissing werewolves, punching werewolves, racing through Italy, crashing cars, camping out, wondering if Jacob owns a shirt, climbing like a spider monkeys, drinking Bella’s blood, having flashbacks – there’s just too many right?!

10. “I have a date with Edward Cullen” — “Twilight”

Ahhh, if only that were true, but day dreaming about changing places with Bella isn’t what makes the scene where Bella (Kristen Stewart) tells her father Charlie about her date to play baseball with Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson). So, what does?

Billy Burke, need I say more. Charlie earned himself an unexpected fondness in the films that he didn’t have in the books. Sure he’s that same cute, protective, humorous father from the novels, but he’s got a lot more spunk. And this moment is classic Charlie.

“He’s right outside,” Bella says. “He is?” Charlie asks, not sounding the least bit excited.

“Yeah, he wanted to meet you…officially.”

“Alright,” Charlie says, snapping his gun closed and earning a roar of laughter. “Bring him in.”

Bella hesitates. “Could you be nice? He’s important.” Charlie draws a halo over his head – love it. Then to round the scene off, “Hey,” Charlie calls as Bella leaves with Edward. “You still got that pepper spray?”

9. Jacob’s a WOLF! — “New Moon”

“What did you do? What did you do to him? He didn’t want this!” Bella screams in Paul’s (Alex Meraz) face – she really does love danger doesn’t she.

“What did we do?! What did he do?” Paul demands, already shaking to change into a wolf. “What did he tell you?”

“Nothing, he tells me nothing because he’s scared of you!”Bella yells.

Paul laughs – a bit psychotically; and Bella punches him.

Seconds later she’s running from a wolf Paul, screaming, “Run. Jake, run!”

Jacob (Taylor Lautner) jumps over the railing of his house, and…Woops – guess Jacob’s secret is out! Jacob’s transformation was a turning point of the series. Bella witnessing it helped mend their friendship, which as we all know the series couldn’t exist without.

But that’s not why this seen is so great. No, here it’s all about Bella punching a werewolf for the first, but not last, time.

8. Car Crash — “Twilight”

Aka, Bella finds out Edward isn’t exactly normal.

Bella and Edward exchange brooding and longing looks across the parking lot. Tyler’s van loses control barreling straight for Bella, but at the last moment Edward saves her.

A shocked Bella meets Edward’s horrified stare just before he flees. It’s another turning point in the film, setting Bella on the path that will lead her to that gorgeous meadow with Edward. But more than that, it’s the first of many times that Edward risks his safety for Bella.

It may be corny, but the scene is incredibly romantic. The way they stare at each other and the magnitude to which Edward shows his attachment to this fragile human steals audience’s breaths.

And of course the scene ends with one of Jasper’s (Jackson Rathbone) famous and hilarious looks of rage as he steps forward only to be restrained by Alice’s (Ashley Greene) hand.

7. The Kiss — “Twilight”

It’s hard to pick just one Edward/Bella kiss isn’t it? They’re all so great, but the first kiss is the sweetest as they say.

“How’d you get in here?” Bella asks, shifting closer to Edward on her bed.

“The window.”

“Do you do that a lot?”

A gorgeous smile from one Edward Cullen. “Just the past couple of months. I like watching you sleep. It’s, uh, it’s kind of fascinating to me.” Love that voice of his. “I just want to try one thing. Stay very still…don’t move.” Those are the words that started the most suspenseful, long and just plain hot kiss of the Twilight saga, and had women everywhere on the edge of their seats holding their breaths.

6. The All American Pastime — “Twilight”

What would Twilight be without those good old family, vampire moments? The baseball scene is packed full of small flashes that bind the movies and characters together.

With an awesome Muse song in the background, the Cullens have one cool stunt after the other. From Alice’s pitching to Edward and Emmettt’s (Kellan Lutz) midair collision to Emmettt’s tree climbing, it’s an exciting scene that will make viewers smile every time.

And of course we can’t leave out Rosalie’s (Nikki Reed) look to kill when Bella says, “You’re out,” or Carlisle’s (Peter Facinelli) laughing, “Nice kitty,” that follows.

Then there’s my personal favorite – Jasper. There’s something incredibly sexy about that bat flipping trick he does; and there’s something even sexier about his southern draw when he says, “Oh, I think we can handle that,” to Victoria’s wicked curveball comment.

5. Meet the Volturi — “New Moon”

Volturi – that really says it all. When we meet the Volturi in Italy, Bella has just raced thousands of miles to save her man only to be thrown into the hands of the volatile and menacing Volturi.

The legendary vampires watch Edward and Bella with curiosity and disturbing interest. The slightly manic Aro (Michael Sheen) reads the mind of a drugged looking, but still charming, Edward. We witness Jane (Dakota Fanning) torture Edward with perhaps the most awesome power of the series so far.
Then she turns on Bella, “This may hurt just a little,” an awesome line, followed by a confounded Jane whose powers don’t work on the human – ha-ha Jane. Isn’t it satisfying to see her pissed off?

Felix goes for Bella, Edward intervenes, and the tension just continues to pile up as Felix slams Edward to the floor cracking both it and Edwards’ face. Felix gets a hold around Edward’s neck and Bella screams in panic, “No, please, please. Kill me. Kill me not him!”

We see love so strong nothing can triumph it, a love that compels the ultimate sacrifice of one’s life for another.

The fervent devotion Bella has for Edward continues to be showcased when Aro walks toward her and says, “You would give up your life for someone like us – a vampire, a soulless monster.”

Bella steadies herself and says fiercely, “You don’t know a thing about his soul.”

According to Entertainment Tonight, she commented about playing the character of Mallory, a 17-year-old runaway who impacts the lives of a couple grieving the loss of their teenage daughter, “I did two weeks of it. I did learn how to do it and I got bruises all over my legs. It’s hard, but it actually doesn’t look painful, but it is. It kinda beats you up. This is something that any girl can relate to: if you love yourself and you respect yourself, that’s the only way anybody else is going to.”

The film, which had its world premiere at the Sundance International Film Festival in January, opens in limited release in U.S. theaters on October 29.

The Amazon Coven

The Amazon Coven is comprised of Tracey Heggins as Senna and Judi Shekoni as Zafrina.

Among the oldest vampires in the world, Senna and Zafrina are descendants of an ancient Amazonian tribe. They have lived outside of civilization for centuries and therefore make no attempt to keep up a human facade. Though they drink human blood, the Amazons have long been allies of Carlisle.

The Egyptian Cover

The Egyptian Coven is comprised of:

Omar Metwally (“Rendition,” “Munich”) as Amun

Andrea Gabriel (“Lost,” “House”) as Kebi.

Rami Malek (“Night at the Museum”) as Benjamin.

Angela Sarafyan (“Love Hurts,” “The Good Guys”) as Tia.

The Egyptian Coven consists of Amun, Kebi, Benjamin, and Tia, with Amun as the leader. It is stated that even though they are not a biological family, they could pass for one. Amun is extremely protective of his family and fearful of Aro.

The Irish Cover

The Irish Coven is comprised of Marlane Barnes (“The Tree of Life”) as Maggie, Lisa Howard as Siobhan and Patrick Brennan as Liam.

The Irish Coven, a relatively young group, was founded by Siobhan and Liam, but Maggie’s talent made her an important element of it. They are not vegetarian but they are civilized.

The Romanian Coven

The Romanian Coven is comprised of Noel Fisher (“The Pacific,” “Final Destination 2″) as Vladimir and Guri Weinberg (“Munich”) as Stefan.

The Romanian Coven is one of the oldest covens in the world and they were the ruling vampire family until they were unseated by the Volturi. For that reason they harbor a centuries old resentment of the Italian coven.

The American Nomads

The American Nomads are comprised of:

Lee Pace as Garrett (“Pushing Daisies,” “The Good Shepherd”)

Toni Trucks (“Music and Lyrics”) as Mary.

Bill Tangradi (“Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles”) as Randall.

Erik Odom as Peter.

Valorie Curry (“Veronica Mars”) as Charlotte.

Turned during the Revolutionary War, Garrett has chosen to live a nomadic existence, wandering the world on his own. Garrett has never lost the rebellious spirit of his human life, and loves a good fight, always rooting for the underdog. Though not a vegetarian, Garrett is among Carlisle’s closest and oldest friends.

Mary and Randall are American nomadic vampires.

Peter and Charlotte are nomadic vampires and mates. They were created during the aftermath of the Southern Vampire Wars, in which Jasper was a key player. They have remained friends with Jasper ever since.

The European Nomads

The European Nomads feature Joe Anderson (“The Crazies”) as Alistair

A nomadic vampire from England, Alistair has a misanthropic, brooding personality and a deep mistrust of all authority. Although he counts Carlisle as his closest acquaintance, he doesn’t visit more than once a century.
