Carmen Electra’s Naked Women’s Wrestling League is, as you might have figured out, a professional wrestling league with naked women. There is no mud or oil involved, just body slams, headlocks and nudity.

But as you might not be thinking, the Naked Women’s Wrestling League (NWWL) was not invented by a bunch of guys sitting around watching wrestling thinking, “Wow this would be better with naked girls!”

“The people who created [the NWWL] had tried a couple of different products that had nudity and one was even a gaming and gambling [web]site where would be naked women playing poker and baccarat, before it became illegal,” said Dan Brown, writer and producer of the NWWL. “Then they tried wrestling in bikinis and that didn’t get a lot of buzz or get any eyebrows raised and so they upped the ante, trying to find the right combo of erotic sensuality and mainstream entertainment.”

Wrestling is so popular and has such a large fan base, they figured, if they added nudity and Carmen Electra on top of that mixture, they’d have a winning combination, Brown said.

And they did.

The NWWL girls are trained by Ron Hutchison, a Canadian veteran of the wrestling community.

To train for a match, depending on when it is, the girls train 3-4 times a week for hours at a time. The workouts include cardio, aerobic exercise and weight training, as well as work in the ring, said Kandi Smyth, a naked women’s wrestler.

Kandi Smyth has been a wrestler in the NWWL for four years, since the first NWWL match appeared on Pay-Per-View in Miami.

For Smyth, NWWL has been a positive experience.

“The family we’ve created- it really has been awesome” she said. But it wasn’t always easy.

“I come from a good Catholic home,” Smyth said, “and when I told them what I was doing, it was a big slap in the face.”

Smyth was kicked out of her home because her parents didn’t approve of her chosen profession.

“But I’ve shown them how dedicated I am and they see the reason behind it. This is something I can do while I’m naked, and I use my athletic ability. So they’ve overcome this, but initially they were not very impressed.”

It took Smyth’s family four years to see her point of view of wrestling nude “in a polite and classy way.”

Although Smyth is a nudist, wrestling naked didn’t come easily or comfortably.

“I’d been nude around nature, but never in front of an audience,” she said.

“You have some really rough times, and we train just like WWE or WWF, but when we get in the ring we’re naked. When it all comes down to it you’re having fun,” she said.

The Naked Women’s Wrestling League is not something that you would find behind the red curtain–it is mainstream adult entertainment you can find in the entertainment section, not in the porn bin, said Brown.

“It is more sensual than sexual,” Brown said.
In the immediate future, NWWL will sponsor 30 minute infomercials to get their name out to the public. A feature length documentary is also in the works.

Naked Women’s Wrestling League events have been broadcast around the world to 38 countries in Europe, South America and Scandinavia. They’ve also been featured in the July issue of Rockstar Magazine, CBS News in Cleveland, Penthouse, Playboy and Maxim.

Warner Brothers Pictures recently released the trailer for “I am Legend,” staring Will Smith.

“My name is Robert Neville. I am a survivor living in New York City. If there is anybody out there…anybody. Please. You are not alone.”

The action/thriller stars Smith (The Pursuit of Happiness) and Salli Richardson and will be released in theaters world wide December 14.

The flick was adapted from the 1954 novel by Richard Matheson.

At Truth, the troubled 19-year-old joins a struggling fraternity, which competes among others in a serious step dancing competition. DJ helps his fraternity by bringing fresh new moves to their team.

Just when DJ thought he got away from gangs, DJ (Columbus Short) becomes the other competing fraternity’s core rival.

DJ tries to juggle the weight of the step championship, his troubled past and the death of his brother, all while trying to, in quite proverbial fashion, “get the girl” (Meagan Good).

Comparatively, both Drum Line (subtract the drums and add more stepping), and Save the Last Dance (change the characters around a bit) fit in the same boat. All in all, it’s a must see for dance enthusiasts.

This romantic drama is directed by Sylvian White (I’ll Always Know What You Did Last Summer) and choreographer Dave Scott II, who also choreographed the dance movie, You Got Served.

Extras for both the DVD and Blu-Ray are the same. They include a making of the film sequence, scene specific audio commentary of the editor, director and cinematographer, a few extended dance scenes, a deleted scene and a gag-reel of line mess-ups and dance fumbles.

Audio for Stomp the Yard include English and French-Parisian, and subtitles in English, French-Parisian, Latin-Spanish, Portuguese, Chinese, Korean and Thai.

“Stomp the Yard” is 114 minutes and is rated PG-13 for some sexuality and violence as well as language. The romantic drama that is now available on DVD and Blu-Ray.

The four main characters who meet at different times–Julia Roberts, Jude Law, Natalie Portman and Clive Owen–develop knotty and cunning relationships with one another.

Dan (Law), a writer, takes Alice (Portman), a stripper, to the hospital after she is hit by a car and they end up falling in love. Subsequently, he decides to write a book about her exciting lifestyle. While shooting for the cover, Dan meets photographer Anna (Roberts). Dan hits on her, but she quickly shoots him down. A year later, Anna and Dan, while still with their significant others, start an affair of their own. Over the next year the four are constantly hurting one another as the relationships fall apart.

This drama is directed by Mike Nichols (Primary Colors and The Bird Cage). The film was adapted from Patrick Marber’s award-winning play of the same title.

The Blu-ray Disc allows you to experience the movie in 1920×1080p full resolution and high definition picture.

Surprisingly, the only special feature on the Blu-Ray release is the music video of Damian Rice’s “The Blower’s Daughter,” which is one more special feature than the DVD has.

“Closer” won two Golden Globes-Best Supporting Actress in a Drama (Natalie Portman) and Best Supporting Actor in a Drama (Clive Owen)-and was nominated for three. It was also nominated for two Academy Awards in 2004.

Rated R for sequences of graphic sexual dialogue, nudity/sexuality and language, “Closer” runs 104 minutes long.

But it on Blu-ray for around $27.99.

With the tragic loss of her late love, Grey (Jennifer Gardner) didn’t believe that she’d ever be able to love again. So she then moved in with her his best friends.

Both are crazy in their own way, but they help her realize that life will go on, and that Grey will be able to love again.

There’s Fritz (Timothy Olyphant), who Grey had considered sleezy, but she soon developed new feelings for him and discovered what her fiancé saw in his long-time friend.

The film also stars Kevin Smith, Sam Jaeger, Timothy Olyphant and Juliette Lewis.

Made in 2006, “Catch & Release” on Blu-ray has a pure picture and 1920 x 1080p full resolution and high definition picture.

Special Features include deleted scenes, auditions, a making-of chapter, commentary with writer/director Susannah Grant and Kevin Smith and Commentary with writer/director Susannah Grant and Cinematographer John Lindley.

The Film is mastered in High Definition and runs 112 minutes long. “Catch & Release” is rated PG-13 for sexual content, language and some drug use.

She realized that getting fired and canned was more common than she thought when she started talking with friends about her unfortunate and humiliating experience,

Gurwitch, most recognized for co-hosting Dinner and a Movie on TBS, is also a contributing writer for “Day to Day” on NPR, and appeared in the film, The Shaggy Dog, among many other appearances on TV and the big screen. She recently added a brisk dismissal from Woody Allen’s much anticipated off-Broadway play to her repertoire.

To make herself feel better, Gurwitch set off to find other stories of getting fired. The compilation of stories was turned into a play and a book. Since both were such a hit, there were more shows added to the schedule, and the idea of the documentary, Fired!, was born.

The comedy, written and produced by Gurwitch, herself, features interviews with her celebrity friends, her gynecologist, rabbis, various CEOs’, as well as the average person’s tales of getting the boot.

The independently produced film includes the interviews and stories of celebrities such as Tim Allen, Sarah Silverman, Fred Willard, Ben Stein, Illeana Douglas, Andy Dick, Paul F. Tompkins, Tate Donovan, Judy Gold, former White House Chef Walter Scheib and more, as they all tell their experiences about getting fired.

The film offers an interesting perspective on jobs. If you have ever been fired or if you’re interested in soaking up tales of how celebrities probably get fired more times than you have been, than this flick is for you.

Overall, Fired! is an entertaining look at real life that’s smartly done.

A new HBO documentary documentary series, appropriately called “Addiction,” looks to find answers to the many questions raised about drug and alcohol addiction across America. Its goal is to bring awareness and education in the hopes that something can be done to prevent and treat addictions.

“Addiction” is extremely well produced. At the beginning of the 90-minute film, the cameras mimic their subjects’ mindsets: the camera is shaky and blurry and gives the drunk and drugged-out feel. It’s then divided up by chapter-each chapter tells a story with commentary from expert sources, including doctors who work in the field of addiction. Many of them speak about the science of getting and being addicted to a substance.

The film’s chapters include; “A Mother’s Desperation,” “The Science of Relapse,” “Opiate Addiction-A New Medication” and “Insurance Woes.” At the end of each chapter, HBO flashes a “for more information” URL about each piece of subject matter.

“Addiction” is educational, and raises the awareness that it’s not just the homeless who have addictions. Nurses, teachers, housewives and businessmen-people from all walks of life and all ages-can develop an addiction, the series shows. The main film shows, however, that addictions generally start between the ages of 18 to 25.

HBO is asking communities all over the country to host house parties to show the documentary and discuss the film with friends, neighbors, family and colleagues. People can sign up to host or attend a house party on a website here you can host or attend a screening party. The Web site includes a link to advertise events in individual communities, including town hall meetings, statehouse briefings and special preview screenings in over 40 cities.

The project is a multimedia production, involving a feature-length film and several additional shorts, as well as a companion book and DVD, which can both be purchased on HBO.com/addiction. In addition, there is a wide variety of information about addictions that can be found on hbo.com/addiction’s website.

The 90-minute central film originally aired on HBO on March 15 at 9 p.m. HBO was widely available, even to non-subscribers, on that date for the purpose of giving the film a wider distribution. Thirteen 20-minute films will be aired on HBO2 and can now be streamed online at hbo.com/addiction.

All 14 films can be downloaded as a podcast at online or viewed on HBO On Demand.

The Timex Ti700 comes with, unlike many other iPod alarm clocks, a remote control. The remote lets you to turn the system on or off, play or pause the iPod, change songs on the iPod and adjust the volume. It also features a button for the three radio presets, a Indiglo controls and the ever-popular snooze control. You cannot, however, change between the different artists or albums on your iPod using the remote.

Also included in the box are separate docks for the different sizes of iPods.

The right side of the Ti700 features buttons to adjust the volume. There is also a sleep button which allows you to set a designated time for the Ti700 to shut off.

On top is a dual alarm system which allows separate wake up times. There are nine programmable pre-sets, three for each–AM, FM1 and FM2.

The unit also features battery backup, which can prove vital.

The Ti700 charges the iPod while it’s plugged in. However, when the iPod is docked, the light does not automatically turn on; you would have to go to the backlight feature on the iPod. The unit, itself, has a variety of dimming controls, however.

The Timex Ti700 is one of the niftier iPod clock radios out there, and it goes for $49.99.

The recipes are easy enough for the average non-cooking man who wants to impress his game-watching friend or even a lady friend.

Inside, you’ll find recipes for wings, sandwiches and burgers, and sections dedicated to: game day snacks, food for tailgating and grilling mainstays, “recipes to impress,” rockin’ cocktails, desserts, salads, some cooking tips, and sports talk.

There are also pictures of what the food should look like after being cooked. This allows you to have something to compare your own results to. If the variation of the food you cooked turned out looking uneatable, don’t show this book and pictures to the people you made the food for because the food looks incredible.

The book’s wide format and the vibrant images of the dishes make for a fun read-through, and Hooters is definitely about fun. There are

a wide variety of dishes and there is something in the book for everybody. “The Hooters Cookbook” definitely for meat-lovers, but there are meatless dishes included too.

You’ll find a little cartoon owl on most pages, but besides that, you’d never know you’re reading a Hooters book. There are not a lot of logos and there are almost no pictures of Hooters girls. This does give the book a more tasteful and classier feel.

Inside, look for: Asian Chicken Wings, Yukon Shrimp Hoagie, Brown Sugar-Baked Beans, Chip’s Grits Galore, Drunken Chicken, Lynne Austin’s Lucky 7-Layer Salad, Spicy Beer-Battered Onion Rings, Crawfish Boil, Toffee Apple Dip, Bleu Hawaiian Salad, and Hooterburry Lemonade.

In Stranger than Fiction, Crick, played by Will Ferrell, is a passive guy working for the IRS. One day, he starts hearing voices narrating the moves he makes, “accurately…and with a better vocabulary,” as Crick put it. He goes to a literature professor (Dustin Hoffman) to help him find out what book he is in.

Dr. Jules Hilbert: The thing to determine conclusively is whether you are in a comedy or a tragedy. Have you met anyone who simply might loathe the very core of you?
Harold Crick: I’m an IRS agent. Everyone hates me.
Dr. Jules Hilbert: Well, that sounds like a comedy!

Crick later finds out the voice he hears is actually a writer named Kay Eiffel (Emma Thompson). Eiffel is writing a book about a character named Harold Crick. Unbeknownst to her, Harold Crick is a real person and his fate is in her hands. She has horrible writers block so she hires an assistant (Queen Latifah) to give her inspiration. The muse-like assistant sits with Eiffel as she imagines ways for her character to die.

One lesson learned in the movie is that all comedies contain a love interest that first loathes the hero, and then falls in love with them. Maggie Gyllenhal’s character, Ana Pascal, is introduced into Stranger than Fiction with tax problems requiring an audit by an IRS agent, who of course is Harold Crick. She is everything he isn’t. Pascal has tattoos, likes cookies, owns a bakery and is completely unorganized as she hands Crick all of her important business papers, crumpled up in a large box. But somehow, they are bizarrely attracted.

Crick learns to live his life, because it may be over soon. The movie is very slow and boring just like Crick’s life until he realizes he may die. The movie is very well made, and it really picks up once Crick starts living his life to the fullest.

Stranger than Fiction was directed by Marc Forster (Monster’s Ball, Finding Neverland). It’s written by Zach Helm and was released in theaters in 2006.

The 113-minute movie has the same features on the DVD as well as the Blu-Ray, except the Blu-Ray is encoded in 1080p video with uncompressed audio. Special features include: deleted and extended scenes, funny on-set moments and multiple behind the scenes features. Stranger than Fiction is rated PG-13 and is released by Sony Pictures.

Naughty American History is not an actual tutoring service, but a website that poses American history questions, and when the participant answers a question correctly, the video tutor (male or female, your choice) takes off an article of clothing. The game includes eight stages which increase in difficulty. If the gorgeous tutor doesn’t pressure you enough to get the multiple choice question right, you are also working against the 10 second clock.

When you get to the website, it asks you to enter your birthday to make sure you’re at least 18. This is clearly a fool-proof method. If the participant is not 18 years of age, you’re out of luck. The questions vary between games played, but they all come out of the same pool of questions, therefore picking one tutor over another makes no difference other than personal preference.

As you answer each question correctly, the tutor takes off a specific article of clothing. But get one wrong, and you’re done. You have to restart and try again to reach the ultimate goal of seeing the Naughty American History tutor naked. After you lose, the site gives the option to click on “play again” or to enter two related porn sites, that focus on good looking females dressed as teachers.

To that effect, the game is really more or less an advertisement for a porn site, but hey, it’s fun.

Throughout the game, the song “Auld Lang Syne” blasts to remind you of New Years–for what reason it is not known.

Loading the questions can take forever when you first log onto the site. Also, there are frequent pauses in the games which may be frustrating if you are waiting to see if you got an answer correctly or not (and if you’re waiting for some clothes to come off).

Americans are always being accused of not knowing enough history. This way of teaching may get Americans to think about history more, because after answering the eight questions, there is a great reward at the end.

An example of an easy first level question is “What color is not on the American flag? Red, white, blue, or orange?”

If you get that wrong, you don’t deserve to see anyone naked in the first place.

A few years later, his mother sends him to live with their newly hired, unconventional therapist and his equally wacky family. These dramatic and wickedly funny personal memoirs, staring Joseph Cross, as Burroughs, set the stage for the Ryan Murphy film.

The therapist, Dr. Finch, played by Brian Cox, has two daughters and a wife, who also take the Burroughs under their wing. Hope is the “Bible dipping,” high strung older daughter (Gwyneth Paltrow). Younger daughter and rebel Natalie, (Evan Rachel Wood) is the closest in age to Burroughs. The wife, Agnes Finch, (Jill Clayburgh) seems shy and used. They also have a 35-year-old adopted son, Neil Bookman, who once lived in a shed behind the house. He helps Burroughs find himself by exploring a new sexual side.

Though life is hellish for this family, Burroughs finds humor and slight optimism with his surrogates. All the while, he maintains his love for, but grows gradually more distant from his real parents. He finds an outlet by keeping a journal, which helps him cope with each situation that life brings him.

Alec Baldwin played Burroughs’ father well, and Joseph Fiennes performed admirably as the adopted son, Neil Bookman. Annette Bening was nominated for a Golden Globe for Actress in Musical or Comedy for her role as Burroughs’ emotionally troubled mother.

The “Running with Scissors” DVD includes features such as an “Inside Outsiders” cast feature, a personal memoir by Augusten Burroughs, “Creating the Cucko’s Nest” set design documentary and subtitles in seven languages. DVD audio is in English, Spanish, Portuguese and French, but Blu-Ray features just English and French. The features included in the DVD are the same as in the Blu-Ray Disc version, but the Blu-Ray is presented in 1080p high definition with uncompressed digital audio.

Made in 2006, the film is approximately 120 minuets long and rated R for language, sexuality, violence and substance abuse. “Running with Scissors” was produced by Dede Gardner, Brad Grey, Matt Kennedy, Ryan Murphy and Brad Pitt. Writer, director and producer, Ryan Murphy, also directed and produced episodes of “Nip/Tuck” featured on FX.
