Developer Obsidian Entertainment announced today that its hit hardcore RPG Pillars of Eternity is getting a console release.

The game was a result of a successful crowdfunding campaign a few years ago and revitalized the Baldur’s Gate style of turn based role playing games that were so prominent in the late 90’s. Relying on solid gameplay fundamentals and a deep lore, Pillars of Eternity became one of the best reviewed RPGs of all time.

With a sequel in the works, Obsidian Entertainment is bringing the game to consoles along with the expanded content of The White March – Parts I & II. According to a press release, the game will also have a redesigned UI built from the ground up to work on a controller.

Pillars of Eternity will make its console debut on PS4 and Xbox One on Aug 29.
