Blast processing is making a comeback as Sonic Mania, the 2D revival of the iconic hedgehog, hits Xbox One, PS4, Switch, and PC on Aug. 15, according to publisher Sega.

Sonic Mania is an old school resurrection of one of the most legendary series of the 1990’s. Much like Capcom’s Megaman 9 before it, Sonic Mania is designed exactly like a 90’s side scroller. While there is probably some much more efficient code in the background, and a few graphical effects that were not available in the Sega Genesis, Sonic Mania still looks like it can be rented at Blockbuster.

Developer Headcannon and PagodaWest Games are working alongside Sega to bring brand new levels as well as a greatest hits of updated classic stages, all of which will be playable with Sonic, Knuckles and Tails.

Pre-orders are now available through Steam and the Xbox Games Store. The base game starts at $19.99 while the Collectors Edition jumps up to $69.99 and it is only available in select stores.

Below are the bountiful goodies you get with that guy:

The trailer above is a features an original song by Hyper Potions and animated art from Tyler Hesse but both fit right in with the classic Sonic art style.
