Eugen Systems is teaming up with Paradox Interactive to bring the Wargame formula to WWII.

Steel Division: Normandy 44 is a real time tactical strategy game that gives players control over some of the most strenuous battles of the invasion of Normandy. With maps taken directly from aerial recognizance pictures and over 400 different kinds of units to control on the battlefield, this might end up being one of the most realistic depictions of the French countryside we have ever seen.

Two challenging single player campaigns will test your ability against ruthless AI while letting you command divisions from six different countries. Often outnumbered, the game gives you full tactical control over every aspect of the battlefield, from overhead unit movements to pinpoint attacks on enemy convoys. With different kinds of units becoming available as you progress in the battle, you will have to say on your feet at all times to ward off the enemy commander.

The game will also feature a multiplayer suite with deck building mechanics that let you customize your army to your heart’s content.

Developer Eugen Systems did a great job on their 2010 WWII strategy game R.U.S.E. and continued that predigree with their Wargame series. Any fan of RTS’s or WWII games should keep this one on their radar as it approaches its launch this May.
